Bands you got into way too late

Triumph - folks that gush over Kiss - Alive II or Priest - Unleashed in the East should really give Triumph Live at the US Festival a listen; huge sound, great performance.

Styx - I knew a few hits for years, but once I heard Miss America on the radio a few years ago, I did a deep dive.

Demon - the NWoBHM band. Their song "Night of the Demon" just has such awesome vocals. I've been a big NWoBHM fan since my teenage years, but somehow I missed this one until decades later.

King Diamond (solo) - Even though I've been playing along with Melissa and DBTO since I was 16 or so, it took a good 15 years before I 'discovered' Abigail, Fatal Portrait, etc. Saw him live this June (and in 2016 on GMM in Belgium). Both top notch shows and sound.

Oasis. Hated hated hated them when they came out. But I was streaming some videos a few years back and YouTube autoplayed Don’t Look Back in Anger at River Plate live.

The WHOLE f’n crowd sang the whole song. I’m sure that was a crazy experience. I like a few songs now because of seeing that.

Also, Weezer.

There's one Oasis song where it sounds like they use a Univibe with the distorted guitar. I think it's called "Do Ya Know What I Mean?" I thought that song was interesting. Most of their other songs were just too overplayed on the radio for me.

Weezer? I liked their first two albums a lot. I was super disappointed with the Green Album and have never found interest in them since that turd was released.

Maladroit is a fantastic album. I suggest checking it out if you like big guitars, hooks and repeated bangers.

I gotta say Blast Tyrant and Robot Hive/Exodus are my two favorites of their entire catalog. There was something in the water on those two. Blast Tyrant is loaded start to finish with ass kicking hard rock songs, and Robot Hive/Exodus is a trippier more diverse album while still loaded with total bangers.
Agreed

I used to make fun of Dave Matthews and would imitate him at work. I've seen him twice live and both were amazing shows with more jams than hits.
Yeah. I don’t like everything- but a lot of the radio singles are the weak tracks on a lot of those albums.

No love or hate for Dave Matthews, just indifference. I actually owned a Mesa DC3 that was previously owned by one of their guitarists. Not a great amp though.,

A LOT! Sometime in the late 1990s I decided I didn't like any new bands since the early part of the decade (PJ, STP, AIC etc.) so I went BACKWARDS and immersed in bands I simply never had the time to immerse in. Allman Brothers was one. Robin Trower, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, Humble Pie, The Guess Who, Raspberries/Eric Carmen and Grateful Dead/Garcia Band. Probably many more I am forgetting.

Fucking everything. I was born in '81. My parents were into classical (for which I'm thankful) and stuff that was on PBS specials like Peter Paul and Mary and Chuck Mangione. They owned one kinda cool album - Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow.

By the time I was old enough to care about popular music without them it was grunge which was obviously music to shoot yourself in the head to, and then numetal which was so aggressively stupid it was impossible to engage with. It wasn't until mp3s when I heard Zep, Van Halen, AC/DC. Basically everything.

I was a big fan until "Everyday." I do love some of the later tracks like "Virginia in the Rain" but basically once Y2K hit I was done.
