If it is... I think it's definitely worth trying a rear loaded one like an old Marshall or Bogner.

I agree 100%. I use a Bogner 4x12, and I know that the front loaded VHT cabs sound different. Wanna Trade?![]()
Also, try some drastic tone control settings. Once you get that Treble Volume up around 7, try bringing the treble tone knob down. Hell, I've run it with the treble tone knob all the way off. I've set it on 5, and ran the Hi Mid off. That Low Mid brings in a lot of sizzle when the amp is distorting, so don't think that all the high end will be gone if you turn down the treble and hi mid knobs. For something a little different, try running all knobs on 10, except for Bass on 4, and the Treble Volume off. Great, thick Blues / Rock tone there. Gotta keep experimenting. G12H30's, Bro!![]()
What he said... The High Mid is effectively a presence control. I can see where with some guitars or cabs the amp could get a bit ice picky with too much presence or Treble tone knob. When I had a stock PeaceMaker and Mojave 4x12, It sounded great with everything cranked to 10 except the treble volume... some days though I would bring down the presence or treble depending on how my ears were feeling it that day...
