even if it’s medication he is legitimately required by his physician to take, there is no reason why he doesn’t respect himself enough to stop this humiliation unless he has lost the capacity to comprehend reality. bon jovi and vince neil are totally done too but DD has lost the ability to be rhythmic. isn’t there a single person in their lives that care enough to set them straight? the show is over.

It is a pretty sad sight. I feel for him to certain extent. Maybe he needs the money? Maybe live shows still give him purpose? He has to know how bad it is you would think.

right!? i don’t revel in other’s misfortune but good gracious, there has to be a better way to present their classic material. if he’s taking advantage of dedicated fans ticket money in this way it is plain wrong!

 
In a goofy way it really shows what egotistical money whores these guys really are . I mean the bass player is doing good , Lynch is good, drummer is good but then they take the stage with him and the total gig is a joke ! Seriously?? They don't have to play with him -- but they do !
 
I saw Dokken open for Dio in 1983 ish -nuff said. Lynch and Viv sharing the same stage in their prime with epic 80's singers in their prime!! :p, and wanders in

About 5 years ago my buddies band opened for this same version of Dokken in the OP. He said Don was not at sound ck. He said there was ahour gap between bands still no Don. In shuffles this old guy with cane. Old guy works his way awkwardly into leather pants, scarf and hat then the big leather jacket (same one in this vid I bet) and out he wanders for a vulgar display of horrible vocal performance.

Agreed on Levine blowing Gorge away. That would be worth going to see alone!

Levin seems to be having a little trouble keeping that left foot on the floor. Nervous twitch? Helium in his shoe? Or, maybe trying to shake a turd out the leg hole?
 
Saw Dokken open for Ryche on Ryche’s first tour with Todd in the band, it was fucking rough. The first time they went to do a harmony the audience went from “Ah, Dokken….haven’t heard these guys in a……WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?!”

I feel bad for the dude, I have little doubt he knows he’s bombing up there and has known it for years, but I’d be willing to bet his medical bills are much steeper than his yearly income. I don’t think this dude is out there because he loves being on the road and playing in front of people, there’s nothing about his performances that display that (Vince Neil looks like he’s still enjoying that aspect of the gig) I think the dude is doing it because he straight up needs the money and this is the only way he knows how to make it.

Yeah, I think you are right. I'm sure he likes coming out and the crowd remembering him, etc but he has to be drained.

I think Vince Neil needs a mirror. I think he jumps around, etc and thinks he still looks the same.
 
Levin kicks ass- better than Lynch IMO- saw Dokken around 2008 or so with Levin. Band sounded awesome and Don sounded great. Talked with them outside after the show but Don was not there. Girlfriend and myself spoke with John and Mick about 1/2 hour. Cool dudes talking with Jon about his guitars and amps. I remember asking him if the amps he was using were DSL 2000's and he said "Fuck I don't know- they just sound good to me" They were BTW. Super chill and killer player. Splawn Cabs too.

The stroke explains a lot. And the meds and other health issues. I'm willing to give Don the benefit of the doubt. And like @RevDrucifer said, he probably needs the money to pay the bills. So like I say in all of these threads when they pop up, if someone is willing to pay the ticket price and they KNOW what kind of shape (fill in the blank) is, then who cares.

Because I do know about Don/Vince/Bon Jovi/DLR/etc - I will probably pass on those shows. But who knows. Sometimes I've been known to spend money on shit like this out of frickin' charity man. :dunno:

Metallica debuted Harvester Of Sorrow during that tour. I saw it at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Dokken comes in before Metallica in Dallas for whatever reason.

That was the show that Sammy lost his voice in. Promised to come back for a free show and the damn sure did at West End Market Place in Dallas a couple years later

Yep. Those were the days indeed.
