They don't need to confiscate firearms. An "armed uprising" by the general public is never going to happen, and they know it. A "paper tiger" threat, nothing more. This was made obvious during arms confiscation; post Hurricane Katrina. Even in the midst of mortal danger, not a single shot was fired in defense of their right to keep and bear arms.
