hi to all! my taste are changed........i have 2 bogner xtc and i don't like anymore loose, sweet sound.....
i want realy agressive metal bite and i don't know which one diezel to buy?

My vote goes for the VH4. Sounds absolutely mean and raw. If you're more into modern less mid tones Herbert might fit better.

General concensus around here says the the Herbert is the most agressive, and best for metal. I own a Herbert and a XTC 100B. I can pull most of the XTC sound on the Herbert and then some. The 3rd chanel on the Herbert is very tight and responsive in comparison, more modern sounding. The XTC 3rd chanel is great also but more open and woody sounding. Hope this helps.

What channel a settings you use on your 101B? I think 101B is pretty damn tight.

on red:excursion-M
presance-1
treble-3
midle-1
bass-10
gain-1, b1
all settings are o'clock on my xtc classic with high-gain mod!
101b is even looser with excursion on-T.

I run 101B Ch 2 & 3 in B1, hi structure, excursion on on L 2ish, mids 3 or higher, tr-bass about 12 & it gets really tight. It actually reminds me of the Herbert with American voicing. Channel 1 volume all the way up, mids a bit backed up & the rest 12ish reminds me of Herbert cleans too. I run it with a 2x12 though. Herbert can get a little tighter compared to 101B, but not THAT much tight. I'd say try VH4. I'd also try different instruments, pickups & heavier gauges. LPs really add some mojo & tightness.

However your definition of tightness is a bit confusing & as far as aggressiveness goes I'd vote for Uberschall as the most aggressive out of all.

i'd check some Randalls too RM100 , the new Kirk Hammett signature Head....

i'd say the herbert...but the vh4 isnt too far behind at all. hell the einstein would be a great amp for high gain too it rules.

+111 on the Einstein!

Herbert have this incredible amount of power that I haven´t heard on any other amp. But maybe VH4 is more aggressive sounding. To me it sounds more compressed, bit tighter and rawer. Herbert is more modern sounding and that huge power section gives you great feel when you play. When my friend played it first time he put it best:Herbert sounds more metal than any other amp. But then there´s so much other than those metal sounds. Great cleans, great blues sounds, great rock sounds and so on

What are some bands that have a similar tone to what you're looking to get? That will give everyone a better idea of what you're looking for.

Before you go drop a bunch of cash on a new amp, have you tried boosting the XTC? That could help a little with the looseness and obviously give you more gain/edge to your sound.

If you are really set on getting a Diezel, I say go with an Einstein. Saves you some cash and the thing can get hella aggressive, with or without a boost. I can easily cop some insanely authentic Tool tones with my Einstein.

Not that Herbert can't do it, but I still think you should check VH4 first. More importantly you should go & play both & decide for yourself.

Just listened to the song on their MySpace page. That's definitely VH4 territory. But make sure to use a good (frontloaded) cab because otherwise especially those staccatos will fart out and you won't have that super fast attack.

I agree with the above posts. I'd go with the VH4 for those kind of tones.
