I'm not even asking EQ qualities. Just articulate as hell. Both bridge and neck. Especially the neck.

Go

PS: I like Burstbuckers but I'm looking for a super woody, articulate sounding bridge & neck pickup.

I guess whatever the guys from AC/DC use? I mean that's pretty clear.

The clearest bridge pickups I've had so far are the Voodoo '59 (I think) and the Highorder Maximus.
For neck: I've recently put a Haussel P90 in hb format in my LP that is really clear. My problem with neckhumbuckers is that they are always too loud compared to the bridge PU or they are too muddy for my tastes

Giga.

Oh, and PS: I usually mount the bridge PU's reverse (polepieces towards the neck) which seems to add to the woodiness and percussiveness if that makes sense

the SD Jazz is pretty damn clear to my ears. i wanna put it in every damn guitar i have

+1 Love the Jazz neck. bridge....WCR Godwood is pretty damn clear in a solid mahogany singlecut PRS.

Damn lots of pickups I haven't even heard of. Great! Thanks for all the input.

After research and a winner for neck, if it's still muddy, I'm definitely going with a hum sized P90. I'm like you Giga. Every neck humbucker I've had has been a bit muddy. PAF Classics weren't that bad but rest was all mud even on low gain settings.

You'd be best to look at Motor City Pickups. Wade at MCP probably is making the best passive pickups on the market. Ty Tabor's guitars that he is using on the road are all made w/ MCP's. I've tried 3 different Humbucker sets from him and a set of vintage style single coils, and there's not a pickup that is passive that sounds better. I've tried TONS of pickups and I would say for lower gain pickups get a set of Torques, or if you want a higher gain pickup that is super articulate get a set of Afwayus. They are by far the most articulate pickups I've ever used, and really super chimey and sparkly on clean tones. The Afwayus are what Ty Tabor is using in his guitars. I have them in a Heritage (the guitar maker...from Kalamazoo, MI) LP (1.5" thick instead of 2" thick body). They sound amazing!!!

Here is a set of clips I did with them with my Egnater M4 / VHT 2/90/2 w/ 6550s rig. There is some sloppy playing here and there.

+100 on wades pickups. If you wand super vintage paf get the black belt, slightly more modern paf a little hotter get the Bliss and then there is the afwayu hot but clear and tight like you heard in the clip. The thing about his pups are the feel they have just fantastic.

So is the neck version of the Full Shred. They're pretty similar pickups. The FS is very, very clean, not a lot of bass to it (which is good for a neck pickup in a LP IMHO).

Honestly, that clip is a bit too wet/saturated for me to have a clear opinion about the pickups. I'm going for a much much more dry and woody/tight/articulate sound. It's not bad at all for what it is but hard for me to judge.

But I'll look into those pickups too. Never heard of them before (I'm not a big pup head :D) thank you.

Another +1. That pickups DOES go in every guitar I own.

Also I've found the Duncan Custom Custom and a Gibson 57 Classic Plus to be very articulate and punch in LP's and another Mahogany/Maple guitars.

Of course, I'll recommend the Custom Custom to just about anyone, so I might be a bit biased.

DiMarzio products: Humbucker from Hell in neck- single coil-like top end. Bluesbucker in bridge- P-90-ish.
