Most expensive piece of gear you ever purchased?

I bought a 73 sunburst Les Paul Custom around 8 or 9 years ago for a little less than 5 grand. I ended up selling it after a car wreck to pay for medical bills. I have bought quite a few pieces of gear in the 3 to 4 grand range, but only one over $4500. What about you guys? What was it, how much did it cost?

this will be very embarrassing...mine is $1200nz dollars (so thats about $925 on us money today) on an ibanez rg760 in early 1990's

$3700 Used 2010 Ian Anderson Standard, almost a yr ago just traded it off last week for some gear. I buy everything general used but have some amps that retail at that. Only piece of gear I ever paid over $3000 for.

Before the economy problems in 2008 it was appraised at $21,000. I am sure it will go back up again. The $13,000 was a appraisal done in the last few months. I did not pay that much. I bought it in 1978.... It is a 1969.

I bought a new 1996 model Gibson Les Paul Classic at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville in 1997. $1300.00. Most I ever paid, well worth it as it has been the fashizzle all these years.

My dad has a '59 he got about a million years ago....never gets played. I've always wondered what it's value is.... Of course he didn't pay much for it way back then, plus it was used when he got it.

ETA: to stay on topic here, I payed $1500 for a used '01 peavey wolfgang (USA), and 1500 for my '09 deluxe STRAT qmt (that I just sold, for 1500). I, too, am cheap, or poor

I'm a cheap fucker but I think right around $2500 for my Bogner 101B and right around that for my 57 RI LPC shipped. All used of course, bought a used 2009 R7 for $2200 shipped, had the tag of $4450 in the case OUCH!
