Does anyone have experience with both of these, and if so, how would you describe them in contrast to one another?

My guitar is a mahogany body with maple top, maple neck with Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. My amp is high gain, it's a Titan.

I play metal, a kind of Thrash meets Death hybrid for the most part. Lots of palm mutes, low note grinding, rapid fire riffing, and some pinch harmonics. I really love aggressive mids, and lots of them. I'm currently using an EMG 85x, and I love the lower mid EQ of it as opposed to the upper mid EQ of the 81. I don't like the EMG 81 because it's just too thin and scooped for my taste. This being the case, which of these two pickups do you think I'd like more?

EDIT:
Wade just emailed me back and suggested I get a Torque humbucker with a Custom Ceramic. What do you guys think about that?

Both are equally aggressive and powerful.

the hell baby is very clear in its delivery. fat bottom end, snarly mids, sparkly highs.

the solution on the other hand is more ragged and harsh in its delivery. tighter bottom end, pissed off crunchy mids and highs.

I have only used the Alnico 5 magnets and all mine have covers.

The Nuke slams the input hard. HUGE bottom end, low mid focused rather than high, sharp pronounced highs.

The nuke doesn't clean up as well as the other two when rolled off on the volume, the solution rolls off very nicely and the Hell Baby rolls off amazingly, enough that when I use it I don't bother with the clean channel.

I have an Alnico 5 magnet not the stock ceramic.

I own both. This is a good description. The Hell Baby is probably the most clear sounding pick-up on the planet.

Good info here. I was looking for a pickup to replace the ToneZone in my SoCal. Might have to give the Hell Baby a try.

I own both as well and I agree with the description. There is a spot in my guitar line-up for each. The solution definately has a more hard-edged crunch that I really like... it is my goto all-out metal pickup! The hell baby does metal fine as well but is a bit smoother and has a more pronounced and aggressive midrange.

Thanks for all he great info guys. This is a really tough decision; they both seem to be such great pickups.

What's a Toque humbucker? I'm not familiar with it.

I did a search, and some guys here have it, and they all love it.

I have a Solution and like it. Sounds like out of the three hot pickups, the Solution is best for metal? I'm thinking of getting another pickup from Wade and was thinking of trying something other than the Solution, but maybe not.

The Torque was one of my favorites from the pup shootout.

What pup shootout was that?

I know some of you guys have the Torque, please talk to me about it!

I also have both and this is a great description. I think i like the hell baby better. I wonder if a hell baby with a ceramic magnet would work well.

A couple of thoughts. The Torque is a pretty aggressive sounding pickup, a great pickup for metal. The ceramic magnet would really enhance those particular qualities of the Torque. Also, Wade's suggestions are almost always bang-on; never fear, he will give you a good recommendation.

That ceramic torque has me thinking now...
