Hi Crew and happy Holidays.

Just a quick question for those that have experience with this. A week ago I went to the MCP site and ordered a Standard spacing 50MM 2 conductor Solution bridge PUP. The only thing I requested was a combination of white/black. I placed the order and it went right to PP. I made the payment and all good.

This is not a complaint or concern but in past experience with ordering products online I would receive a confirmation e-mail from the company that the order has been placed. To date, nothing from MCP stating that they/he even received the order. Just PP stating that I sent a payment to MCP. Is this standard operating procedure with MCP? Should I stand idle and just expect the PUP to show up someday?

Thanks for reading this and I look forward to your responses. on.

Yes, that's normal for Wade. In about 7 weeks you'll just get a little white box in your mailbox.

Thanks for the reply Greg. That is what I figured.

I recently recieved (2-3 weeks ago) my Double D bridge PU with an aged nickle cover. Took 7 weeks and worth the wait. The wait was nothing unexpected and was the same with past orders in the last few years.

Any email messages Ive sent Wade are always answered within a few business days. Hes a one man show. I dont suspect he checks his email hourly let alone daily and concerntrates on winding pickups.

My last order I sent one email with all my questions including a quote request. I made a PP payment and sent him a message that i did. A few days later he replied saying he got my payment and order was in the production queue.

Me persoanlly, I would expect a message from Wade confirming the payment and order shorty from my past orderss. Not sure exactally how long ago you ordered but I would send a follow up email after new year holiday just to confirm the order details and payment. Wont hurt.

My experience, best pickups I have ever played. I have no desire to try any others but the service was not over the top. Not a big deal, I'm sure he's a busy guy. But don't worry about it. Eventually, you will get the pickups. If it goes way over the time frame he will refund no questions but they are worth the wait.

He's a real busy guy, my Detroiter took 6 weeks from order to delivery without any additional emails/confirmations etc. It's a small operation, the ordering email however, does say something like 'please allow 4-6 weeks for your order to be shipped'. Which i guess was enough for me to not to worry.

Yup normal like everyone else has said. I ordered another Afwayu back on 11/6 and I’m still waiting on it. I think he’s a little backed up due to new products for the NAMM show.

Holidays, NAMM, being already busy. It's to be expected.

What Does the Double D Sound like? Is it similar to the Solution or to The Afwayu?

Yup...Like I stated in the post. No concerns or worries, I was just not familiar with MCP/Wades procedure when he has an order come across his feed. Thanks everyone and happy new year.

Wade's version of a duncan JB. This pickup lets a lot more of your pedals and amp to come through. Its not a hot pickup, but the resistance is high. Its every bit as tight and articulate as a detroiter.

Ok. Thanks Man! I have one Les Paul that sounds a little thin to me, i was going to install an Afwayu. I Have another Les Paul that is rather compressed sounding & i was going to install an Alnico Solution.

Negative... The Double D is Wade’s take on an improved Duncan Distortion. The Garuda is his take on a JB.

I'm quoting Wade's description of the pickup from his reply email to my inquiry below.

"The double D is available now. The double D is kind of like a perfect blend between a oldschool JB and an old dirty fingers...Fall somewhere in between and is tighter than the Afwayu with less base and gain as well so you need to have some gain from the amp- it’s a cleaner tighter pick ups that work with gain from the amp and the petals so keep that in mind, The tone and playability are devastating it’s a very nice piece"

Where were you informed that the Double D is his take on an improved Duncan Distortion?

Ok! Now i'm interested. Before Deciding i wanted to use MCP....I was going to buy a SD Custom for 1 LP & a Chrome Covered Distortion for the other.

I can't comment on either the Afwayu or Solution, but for a thin sounding LP I'd also strongly consider Wade's Detroiter or Hothead. The both add some nice fatness. The Hotheads have bit more push and are a little bit tighter. The Detroiters have a more aggressive midrange and have a little more bounce to them.

The Double D is also nice in a LP. It's more aggressive than the hothead and is more cutting than both the hothead and detroiter. It has more push than the detroiter while the DD and hothead are probably in the same ballpark in that regard.

I remember the first time I ordered MC pickups. Talked to Wade on Monday, he shipped on Tuesday and I had them on Friday. The next time took about 3 weeks. That was a long time ago. lol

Very late response, but Haha, yeah a special pickup for sure. Nothing else like it. My set will never leave the guitar they are in. I am sad I sold a second uncovered set I had lying around. :/
