Every order I have placed with him has taken forever to come in. I've been waiting for six months for the last Afawyu I ordered. Checked PayPal a few days ago and noticed that he cancelled my order.

Website was taking orders a couple of weeks ago. Got a tracking number today and it's on it's way

So he can fill orders made just a few weeks ago but not fill SFW's order from 6 months ago...............:dunno: Now that's all kinds of fucked up.

Didn't you release a video of you playing with an Afwayu? It's a Great Pickup & by the way i love your demo vids.
First of all, thank you for the kind words.

Yes, I made a video with the first Afwayu pickup that I bought. It took four months to receive. As soon a I played it, I ordered a second one. I LOVE this pickup. The second pickup took about five months to arrive. I decided to order a 53mm version for my Charvel. That was six months ago. I checked PayPal to get the order number so I could send him a message asking for an update. That's when I noticed that the order had been cancelled. Check my CC and saw that it was credited back to me. A little frustrating. I love the pickups but probably won't be ordering anything else from him. As cool as they are, there are plenty of other options that are readily available.

I really like the Afwayu in my SG, but sounds like it would be dicey to order a pickup at the moment.

I think 53mm is the problem. I honestly think he just winds 50mm and any deviation is a problem he doesn't care to deal with.

He did a 53mm 2nd degree black belt for me. It was the time when Covid was heating up, it was redirected to a boat transfer, took approx 5 months. :)
At the first order I was thinking he has the standard models on stock, like BKP, but be aware, all built on order, so it takes a while.
He is a really solid dude, but you have to be patient.

I'm curious what you love about it?

I just ordered a 53mm hothead on 4/6. Tracking # says it will be here tomorrow, we will see.

Maybe he happened to have one sitting around or loves to wind the hothead or something idk

When i ordered my Afwayu it took about 3 weeks.
The first time i got a 2DBB it took a year

it took 9 months for him to respond to the email i sent asking a question once, i wont take my chances ordering anything again lol

It's got some heat to it but doesn't feel overly compressed. There is a grind to the midrange that I find very appealing. It's hard to describe, but you to play a distorted chord the mids kind of grind and pulsate... for lack of a better way to put it. The top end has bit but isn't harsh. It just present with no ice pick. The bottom in is thick without been muddy. Palm mutes punch you in the chest with an authority.

It just makes me smile every time I play one. It "that" tone I hear in my head.

That's how i felt too. I have one in my Jackson T-1000 Single Hum/single volume. It sounds massive....I may need to lower it away from the strings a little.

Threw the hothead in my Pro Plus Soloist, sounds damn near perfect.

The guitar came with a Duncan Distortion, the difference is more clarity, tighter, maybe less bass. Hard to explain but sounds much better for what I play. 2nd the mid range grind comment. I sometimes have trouble cutting through with the settings I like on my Uberschal and this definitely helps some. My bassist noticed the difference and said he can finally hear me and it sounds like im playing in stereo. 🤷‍♂️

Going to order another to replace the black winter in my other Jackson.

Might take 6 years next time but worth it imo

The Afwayu is my favorite pick up for hard rock and metal. It is tight on the low end, has just enough mids and great sparkle and bite to leads without being harsh. If you've played Duncans, it is tight like the Custom on the low end and sings like a JB on the high end. It isn't too tight, or too compressed and dry either. I hate pick ups like that and I don't like ones that are too stiff either.

It is a high output pickup, so don't expect vintage voicing or anything like that. However, it does clean up very well. Excellent pick up all around.

Yes, Wade can take awhile. I ordered a slightly overwound Afwayu set form him a few years ago an I think that took 6 months. I also got myself in line for the Horse Hog and that took a year. He does communicate, and he can be fast at times. He is a great guy and makes a great product, but he is also by himself which I think doesn't help the speed factor.

Oddly enough I got in line for that as well. Totally forgot about it because I never heard anything from Wade and then last week I just got a PayPal invoice for it. Pretty crazy, but I'll be excited when it gets here.
