Much has been said about the new Metallica, but...

Not in love with the tone, but that song is very solid.

For a while there, I was like, WTF? Kirk isn't using his wah pedal? But then there it was...
It’s never too far away lol…just when you start wondering where is it…THERE IT IS!!!

I was listening to this in the car the other day and thought it was great I think the lyrics are about the Salem Witches. I was blown away by the length of the solo.

For a metal tone, it sounds so polite and wimpy to me

I get Metallica probably isnt gonna write my favorite songs ever anymore, i do though expect absolute top notch production and this new stuff just isnt that, its got that flat and sterile digital sound we've all been complaining about forever and i just dont know what the fuck. i actually get pissed at the assholes, like come on you fucking jerks, do better.

Song is cool but the tone has no teeth or grunt.
I was blown away by the length of the solo.
This made me laugh. Towards the end of it I was thinking why even have a solo...but then they came out of it and it sounded so much better. So I kind of get it.

Half the songs sound like load songs but missing bob rock’s attention to detail to every second of the song. I like 83-98
All of it

The black album took me a few good listens to like it. To except my favorite band had a different sound. Slower,More radio friendly. Hell james took vocal lessons and actually was fucking trying to sing.
My point. At some point every band you like changes. Most bands hit that wall at album 3 or 4. We’re lucky to still have em around period lol.

That guitar sound is so awful it actually ruins the song for me. I'm trying to listen through it and I can hear a tune that could be cool in there but fuck, man.

There's s very specific coarse grained midrange splatty grind happening in the guitars and it's truly awful and distracting as hell, and it's just so unsuited to the music. Greg Fidelman should be ashamed of himself.

God that tone is wimpy as fuck all! Bring back the heavy tones already!

Can the snare sound any more like cheap plastic shit?? :bleh:

Still haven’t made it through this whole album but I found I enjoyed it FAR more cranked up in my truck than I did listening to it quietly on anything. The annoying treble on the kicks tends to get out of the way when it’s louder. I had to get over my preference for guitar tones I thought I’d prefer to hear in songs or else I’d never have been able to listen to Zep.

Overall, I was really surprised at how the energy of the songs changed by cranking them up, which is something that went away with brickwalling, now that we’re coming out the other side of that, I have to remind myself to turn the volume knob up half the time.
