Any y’all hang at forums for pro audio, specifically recording? Which ones do you like?

Gearspace seems to be the go to pro audio recording forum.

Gearspace FKA Gearslutz is the only worthy forum for that stuff IMO. DAW specific forums (PT, Logic, Ableton, Studio One, etc) are decent but move at a snails pace.

Beware though, that place can make you go broke if you're serious about the craft. A lot of anonymous pros post there and are very opinionated as well. Can be douchey but nowhere near as snooty and obnoxious as TGP.

Not sure how much you know but just remember this...it's all about the content/quality of music at the end of the day. You can get away with cheap gear to yield amazing results. Billie Eilish/Finneas got famous off of KRK's, an SM7b mic, UA Apollo interface and plugins. You don't need $10,000 Forsythe converters for premium sound.

Yeah I’m good with all that. Used to Engineer in the very early 90’s. I’ve been more of a hobbyist with it for so long now, as I stopped engineering to focus on playing. Had DAWS for a long time and starting to get the itch to use a mixer again. Get a little out of the box.
Want to find a community who’s really up on what’s available for small form mixers, 12 XLR, or so ins, that play well with DAWS.

Gearslutz for sure, but honestly with the amount of YouTubers out there where I can actually hear things I don’t go much anymore, most of the mixing guys aren’t obnoxious like some of the guitar guys can be

Problem with YouTube is a lot of the videos just play out like a salesman at a convention. Breeze through the features that they demo, very quickly, or not all. No real, long term feedback. On a forum I might get the folks who bought it and used it (still using it) for an extended period and discovered the real pros and cons of use and with what gear.

there’s Control Room that’s running on discord and fb but it’s on subscription. really helpful community and some great deals for members on plugs and hw.

some are annoying, but theres endless channels that arent annoying and not trying to sell something, and i still want to trust my ears over what someone on a forum is saying, guys describe tones here literally the complete opposite as i would. i just watched this video for example, this is a technique i wouldnt have tried on my own, but im glad i did because i have another tool in the box should i need it or want to try something different, and theres a bunch of other cool videos theyve done too. just gotta find the right channels

Pretentious as fuck and everyone is a Grammy Record Producer.. Get the fuck outta here..

I used to spend a lot of time on Gearslutz when I was recording a lot. There was a lot of great information there.

Too bad the old sneap forum died off. Place was awesome
Yeah man, i think the golden age has passed for this topic.

Gearslutz might be the only place left with any traffic but the sneap forum way back in the day was where I learned 90% of what little I know.

Anybody rockin' a board here. not doing everything in the box?

i am, i use it for my drums mostly with a little bit of eq. besides it looking cool though im not really sure what the point is for home use, it takes up a ton of space, i cant play and tweak my drums at the same time, and im not sure it really sounds any better than the preamps in my interface. if i was recording bands and could eq and level while someone else is playing it may be different, but i dont really care about using analog gear and twisting knobs isnt thrilling at all to me, and im not really looking to go away from my templates and instant recall should i want to change something, which is really the biggest thing for me
