The only thing that would really bother me about these guitars is the neck joint/heel. I want some nice upper fret access, but the Charvel design is a bit clunky, no?

-Joe

I don't have any problems with it... The way it's built, I don't have any issue with it and I have tiny little hands.

Cool...good to hear.

I'm curious...They offer a hardtail routed body, but they don't say for which bridge it is drilled for. Hmmm

To me it's more that they don't match the 2 piece bodies perfectly, but you know what? Who cares! Mine is a 2 piece. It's not matched perfectly, but it sounds killer! Very lively guitar.

That's what I said, as long as it sounds good, who cares. However, that's just how I feel about Musikraft's woods. I started the thread by saying "no offense" because I knew right away by being honest and making a judgement it would be taken the wrong way. I think it's killer that so many guys can put these things together and get an awesome playing, sounding guitar.

I hear you...
It's alot of fun to put together.

send them an email. They're very good about getting back to you. All my contacts with them have been very very good. They were very helpful.

Yep, I've been thinking of it. It's kind of in the back of my mind right now until I have more cash. Definitely on the horizon though. Thanks man,

Yeah... if you want a San Dimas Charvel, Musikraft is the way to go. They really nailed that.

Cool man, thanks for the info! I'm thinking all mahogany, black hardware, EMGs, shred/chug machine!

For any of you guys that have owned or have extensive experience with original Charvels, which Musikraft neck profile do you feel best approximates the original (pre-84 strat head) profile? It doesn't need to be perfect but I'd like to get close to the real thing as possible. I'm still pissed I had to sell all of my Charvels and GMWs and I've been jonesing for something similar ever since.

I'm really impressed with the guitar so far. Musikraft quality is excellent. I have a gloss finish on the body, and the neck has a satin finish to it. I custom ordered the neck because most necks I play are way too thin for me. Jumbo frets are nice and level.

same here. I have 8 or so musikraft necks, most of which I ordered...I like fat-ass necks, not that whimu thin profiles you typically see on superstrats. I also go 1 3/4's or 1 11/16 nuts

I have a body from musikraft that looks perfect ..1 piece mahogany. I am doing an SG type dark cherry nitro finish...it looks great but Nitro dries so thin you have to build up mega coats before you can sand...I see why most manufacturers use thick poly

For the flush mounted Floyd - do you need to shim the neck a little bit?

I can't do the thin, dinky necks.

This one is .830 at the first fret and .950 at the 12th fret. I still might like it a little thicker. I have a Suhr coming with a .880 - .970 profile. It's gonna be awesome!

I didn't have to in mine, but I ordered the San Dimas body with the slight tilt in the neck pocket (not sure what you call it)

I didn't need to for mine.

I didn't need one for mine either. I put a shim in the neck pocket to see if it did anything and it made the action weird. So I left it out.

I have had my Musikraft Charvel copy and my production Charvel for a few days now. The Musikraft kills the Charvel. I love this thing!

Anybody want to buy a production model Charvel?

How about a trade for an ESP Eclipse II in Vintage Black?

It's the "thin D" profile if I remember correctly.

Charvels in the early 80s were not consistant in regards to the radius since they were hand formed but a soft C with rounded edges like Lee's work. Take a Fender C and shave it down some and that would be a Charvel imo.

1 11/16" to start as well.
