I love mutt/parts guitars. LOVE'EM! I like them better than most $2-3K guitars I've played.

Now I'm not talking about those whacked-out wood/hardware/configuration choices that some people make. I'm talking about your run-of-the-mill alder/ash/basswood strat-type guitars. They RULE!!!

You start the thread and you don't post pics?? :gethim: :gethim:

I feel the urge to put one together and I have some money burning a hole.

Something like this maybe:

Here's my number 1:

GMW neck (Maple with ebony board and 6100 frets), and a Fender USA body. Its now got an Anderson H3 in the bridge + Duncan Cool Rails in the neck, and it also has Sperzel tuners and an upgraded Callaham trem block.

Absolutely kills and its the only piece of gear i own that i can safely say i will never sell. :)

That has got to be the sweetest birdseye neck I have ever seen!!!
Dude it is EPIC! I'm serious when I say the pictures aren't doing it justice. Simply ridiculous and I've owned (and still own) a bunch of birdseye necks...

Make sure you guys scratch off any Fender logos off any headstock and body parts. You know, to stick it to em.

But what if it's a Charvel neck? Oh yeah.. that's Fender...GONE!

I've still got the mutt urge but after spending some time reading up on it I think I might actually build a tele. As in raw body blank build a tele. Maybe just the body. I don't have the tools for fretting a neck yet...

I've thought about that. I'm slowly building up some guitar-specific tools.

some of my part o casters...

Still have this one - insanely birdseyed neck, just a killer guitar.

Built this as a Brad Gillis Warmoth... sold it when I got one of his Fernandes Sig prototypes:
