My bad luck wirh concerts

I have this "magic touch" if you will with concerts that has happ3ned the past few years. If I get tickets, something happens and the show gets cancelled or postponed or adjusted.

Whenever ACDC was previously touring around 2014 or so, I was two week from the show and Brian Johnson blew out his eardrums

Then there was some show I was going to go to (can't remember which one) and the guitar player passed away about a week out.

KISS has been the grand prize lately. I got tickets for a show that was cancelled three times at the same venue:
- Covid closed all shows
- Paul's roadie gets Covid and dies
- Gene gets Covid

I'm days from a KISS show and Paul shows up on social media with an IV and has the flu. They already had to cancel two shows. We'll see what happens. I already saw them on this tour and it kicked ass so we'll see. It just cracks me up. I'm the tour death clock....lol

With the premium pricing on concert tickets for big name acts these days I would rather get some new gear with the money or just eat good for a week or two. Maybe sink some cash into some building materials and one day have a studio. Concerts are for people who works hard five days a week. I work hard six days a week so they are off limits to my budget.

I figure as a musician I can only afford to play concerts and gigs, not attend them. Though about ten years ago I got my cover charge refunded at a local show since I was living in the town the event was in and gigged the same venue frequently. The booking person took pretty good care of me. That's about it outside of watching friend's bands play at local venues and hitting jams and such.

It's funny you say that because the cheaper shows are the best now IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing KISS, Priest, Maiden, etc. but those are in arenas, expensive, etc. When I've seen W.A.S.P., Mac Sabbath, etc, it is around $20 to $40 and smaller venue, great people, etc.

I like the greater engagement at the smaller shows. A good club with good owners, staff, a good stage and good sound system, sound man, and bands. Pretty rare combo these days. Even some of the festivals I used to like attending, because they are a great deal...standing in a field in the weather all day has less appeal to me than when I was a kid. I'd rather be on the bill getting paid and have backstage amenities like a place to sit down out of the sun, lol

Lol, I can't do festivals. Yeah, I get more out of the small shows and hanging out with my best friend, having a few beers and meeting other metalheads. The big shows feel so removed and the people in the front are rich a-holes wearing Affliction shirts......

Last live shows I went to, Winery Dogs here in town in 2016, and 2014 I road tripped to the Quad Cities and saw them in a super small club. Both killer shows.
Might do Lynch Mob next spring...we'll see.

I'm with you on festivals, I've played tents at Rock Fests about 30mi from here, going back to the first one in 94. But they are a shitshow to deal with these days. They are fun to people watch, though.
