I liked the DS1 (japan) best but I also kind of liked the OD-1 and the Bass ODB-3 was interesting.

How can you tell them apart? Japan Vs. Tiawan? The color looked slightly different but is there any way to ID which is which?

The easiest way to tell Japanese from Taiwan is probably the bottom label. If the label is gone, I'd just open up the bottom and have a look at the board.
