What a pita! Took forever because I didn't want to go too far and ruin it. I think the unwound strings are still a little too deep.

I giggled at the title because, splooge. Excellent work dude! Slown and steady is the way to go with those at first. That was one of the more difficult tasks for me at luthier school.

My first nut replacement in 1982 was brass on a Les Paul and i messed it up.
Leveled off too much material, figured it out by the second one.
These days i just pay to have it done.

Thanks! I only did it to try my own spacing adjustment similar to the EJ adjustment where everything is scrunched towards the 6th string so there is more edge at the 1st string. Except I also wanted the 5th string and 6th string closer together so when I use the thumb to play notes on the 6th string its easier to mute the 5th at the same time. I like doing that but my thumb doesn't, hence this experiment.

I did a lot of firsts on this build...my first Tele of any kind.

Looks great man! I'm also working on a blank as we speak. What kind of files do you use? I've been using the standard Stewmac set and they work great, though they bind up pretty easily once you start getting some depth. I'm thinking about getting Stewmac's double edged set since they are tapered...but pricey!

They also sell this Safe Slot product but again $$$. Seems like either time or money on these nut jobs.

Looks perfect. Nice work. Its a good feeling doing things for yourself.
