Watching that new concert on Palladia and as soon as they break into Two Minutes to Midnight they completely own.
What a kick ass band.

No doubt. Been listening to an 80's metal internet station in the shop lately. They have some ridiculously great tunes. Hallowed Be Thy Name just makes me smile. Flight of Icarus, Trooper...

I am a HUGE Maiden freak from back in the early 80's!

This is one of my all time favorite jams they have done...ever...period!
Listen to it all the way thru if you dont know it. ;)
Super classic Maiden horse gallop chuggin.

Janick Gers (whatever his name is) ruins it for me. I was watching a concert on TV the other day and finally had to turn it because I just couldn't stand to see that guy prance around like an idiot. This really pisses me off because I love Maiden.

+10000000000..........
Havent really watched them on Video or live since "Live after death" (The best live maiden!!)
Then I see the "somewhere in time" concert....
see some STRANGER....running around...making faces.....licking his guitar neck.......
Jumping between Adrian Smith and Dave Murray.... :gethim:
It was a definite...WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?! moment for me....

The worst thing about it is that he infects the other guys with his doucheyness. If a guy acted like that in any of our bands he'd be kicked out in a heartbeat.

They sound great, probably better than they ever have. Dickinson can still bring it after all the years, but I just can't watch them with that idiot dancing around.

I agree. I ignored him for most of it but he did distract me with his fruitcake dance moves and cheesy bar band rock star moves.

It still amazes me that one of the most original and special bands in the history of music decided to add a third guitar player.
It really makes no sense to me. He adds nothing.

I think Janick actually has good stage presence. It just seems a bit out of place with IM.

Exactly!! I lived and breathed "Live after death" concert on VHS tape...... :D
I think they were tighter then with just 2 guitarists.

At first I didn't like him much and his stage presence can be a bit much. But the last couple times I saw them they had it worked out better and sounded more full. Some rhythms under harmony parts and such. Pretty cool.

Playing in a Maiden tribute band sure was a lot of fun back in the day. :)

i love maiden up to powerslave
after that they fell of hard writing wise
live they still kill in spite of the clown onstage

I read an interview, or saw a behind the music or something like that, and remember that JG came in after Adrian left. When Adrian came back, they just didn't think it was fair to cut JG back out.

I don't really care for the guy either but the last two times I saw Maiden live with all three of them, they just killed it. Unreal shows.

Me too, i love maiden but this guy is annoying.

Maiden rocks. Janick Gers doesn't really bother me either. I think Janick also was on some of the Bruce Dickenson solo stuff.

I agree!!! I do not know why he is even in the band?

Maiden still owns it live though. Not a huge than of the newer stuff since I was a diehard fan of them from NOTB to Seventh Son (went back after NOTB to check out Killers and Iron Maiden). I lost interest pretty much after that though.

I love them. New guitar douche and all.
My cousin showed them to me back when I was in 5th grade right after Seventh Son was released. It fundamentally changed me forever. I was a metal head rocker ever since.
Almost overnight my walls of my room were plastered with Eddie and the gang. My closet door was replaced with a Somewhere in Time tapestry. My jean jacket was adorned with a Live After Death backpatch. You could pick me out of the class picture due to my Powerslave tee shirt. Their albums played nonstop on my walkman and my ghetto blaster.
They paved the way for other metal bands. Anthrax, Slayer, Merciful Fate, I couldn't get enough and it was Iron Maiden who showed me the way into this fast paced, aggressive guitar world in which I've lived ever since.
Metallica has been the only other band to surpass them as far as a major influence to me. They never went into the "Dungeons and Dragons" type themes that Maiden always did. Metallica's guitars and lyrics spoke to me on a more personal level but I'd never had given them a chance if not for Maiden opening my ears and mind.
