Curt is a great man, a man of vision and guts and there isn't even a plaque or a signpost or a statue of him in his town!
Good thing you didn't include the rest:

"Someone put a bullet through his eye. No one knows who gave the order - when I heard it, I wasn't angry; I knew Curt - I knew he was head-strong, talking loud, saying stupid things. So when he turned up dead - I let it go. And I said to myself, this is the business we've chosen - I didn't ask who gave the order - because it had nothing to do with business!"

Steve

I think Ive heard your stuff before somewhere, like on HC or something...sounds really good, the recording is tight!

No. That's just a demo I made up to show what the amp can do. I may develop it into something more.

Ya know I'm sure I grabbed this before, it's the one with 'Mr Anderson' on it right?

Hurried off to go search in the CD pile :-)

Yeah, that's the one.

Album Bought last wednesday on Itunes!!Now is on heavy rotation on my iPod!! Great work, awesome sound Chubtone!! every songs is cool in every part and not boring, very intricate licks and 80's riff with a modern key!!(IMHO)
What about the gear used in this album( amps guitars, pickups, booster, overdrive....)
Thanks and bye
Matteo

Hey! Just downloaded this on iTunes because I'm at work and bored and needed some fresh music. Frickin' love it. Thanks for simultaneously inspiring me and making me want to sell all of my gear.

Your tone is incredible. The songs are catchy and fun which is a big selling point for me. Congrats on the killer tunes.

Not to keep harping but, seriously? I think this is the best album I've heard in a long time. I've been running it non stop in my iPod and just keep restarting it when it's over. I like it so much, I'm considering buying the CD too just to make sure I've always got it.

I need Mr. Anderson tabbed so I can mangle it beyond belief. :m17:

Long To Touch You is amazingly soulful and powerful. I simply do not dislike a single cut that you did.

I'll be getting in touch about that CD once I've got my bonus.

Thought I'd bump this as I was specifically searching for this thread to see what you used to record it and what the recording chain was like. Killer Killer Killer tone!!

I'm getting interested in recording lately. An api mic preamp. Hmmm will have to check them out. Any other recording tips you can share besides cranking a Peacemaker ;)

You need to stop in and bring a 6 pack to share with Curt. He'll drink most of it but he's funny when drunk so it's worth it.

I did most of the work on this 3-5 years ago, so my memory will be a bit fuzzy. Everything was recorded through a 4x12 cab with Celestion G12H30's in it. I used a vintage Shure SM57 (alnico magnet) into a vintage API mic preamp. The amps were the Mojave Peacemaker and the Splawn Quick Rod. Most of it was the Peacemaker. My main guitars were my old '84 Charvel and an old Warmoth that I built as a replica of one of my favorite old Charvels. I also used a USA Charvel So Cal for all the electric guitar in the ballad tune. Pickups were Duncan '59's in the bridges. I have since changed favorites as far as bridge pickups and the Warmoth never gets picked up anymore.

In most cases the Peacemaker was boosted with a Tube Screamer or a v1 Fulltone OCD or a Boss SD-1.

That's really about all I can remember. This CD isn't on iTunes anymore. I paid for the second year and it expired and sales were really slow so it wasn't worth putting up for another year.

People tell me all the time that they have been driving by for years and never stop in and it amazes me. I can't drive past a music store without stopping in and finding out what they are all about. The sign says GUITARS on one side in 4' letters. The front sign says Squid Music - New & Used Musical Instruments and the other side sign says Squid Music. No hint of "pawn" on the sign anywhere. This is not a new building or a glamorous fashion boutique. It is an old school style guitar, bass, drum shop that gets in a lot of used musical gear. Remember that excitement of walking into a guitar shop or cool pawn shop and not knowing what was going to be in there this time and just hoping to come across something cool? I do. That's why I do this.
