I finally got to play a show with an in-ear monitor system this past friday night. I used the shure psm200 that a friend let me use (for however long I want to use it).
The good: Insanely clear sound...like listening to a CD. I had everything mixed in and I could hear everything pretty well. I can see why alot of singers, keyboardists, etc use these.
The bad: For as well as I could hear things, I felt alienated from the band and the audience. My guitar was loud enough but it sounded a little shrill...but not anything I couldn't deal with. I just didn't like the feeling though...no matter how well I could hear.
I decided to give them back to my friend and continue using floor wedges. I like feeling my amp and the crowd...neither of which I could really do with the in-ears.
