Well, it took forever and a day, but I finally got my 60's Sunburst Double-Bound Tele Custom inspired build done.

I've gotta give major props to Rob and the entire crew over at Warmoth. Whoever says "warmoth service sucks" is 110% full of crap, because they bent over backwards to get me this body made exactly to my specs. It's one of their newer vintage-style Tele bodies, but double bound. The finish is flawless, the weight is perfect, the neck pocket is TIGHT, and the tone is insanely good. It's got the flattened jack area, the router hump - the whole 9 yards.

• Warmoth Vintage Alder Double-Bound Body w/ivoroid binding.
• Warmoth Maple/Rosewood Standard Thin neck
• Fender H1 Bridge plate w/Wilkinson Brass Saddles
• Seymour Duncan Broadcaster & Dimarzio Twang King pickups

I put a lot of care into this one - leveled, crowned, and dressed the ends of the frets super nice. This thing just growls and twangs with the best of em. Sustain for days. Super pleased with the results. Now I have to do it some justice and learn me some country licks!!!

This thing plays just as good, if not better, than any $2K Fender you can grab off the wall at Guitar Center. I just can't get over the neck pocket. There's something to be said for CNC machining, man. The precise tolerances make for a great fitting neck.

With it's "twin" - a Warmoth late 60's inspired Strat build. Another beast of a guitar. It just feels like it's going to jump out of your hands.

haha.

good looking guitars man

i am a big warmoth fan myself, and have always had great service from them

Hell of a job, Nick. Nice axes.

Question: the Fender logos on the headstocks....are the waterside decals and, if so, do you apply lacquer over them?

Yes, they're waterslides. (Being an aspiring luthier, I'm actually kinda bummed that I put "Fender" on there instead of "Pierro", but I digress...) Since the Warmoth body is finished in Poly, I wanted to make sure that I did the headstock in the same finish.

Here's what I did:

1. sanded the headstock super smooth
2. Applied 10 coats of minwax wipe on poly, lightly sanding inbetween coats. when it's done, it should look pretty smooth and glossy.

3. Applied Waterslide. Wait 24-48 hours.

4. Apply a LIGHT dust coat of spray poly. Wait 24 hours.
5. Repeat this 4 times, waiting 24 hours inbetween coats.
6. Lightly sand flat.

6. Apply wet coat of spray poly. Repeat 5 times, waiting 24 hours inbetween coats, and sanding inbetween coats.

When it's done, lightly wet sand, then polish with Scratch X.

YOu should have thrown a bucker in the neck and brass 6-1 bridge for the Summers vibe!

Looks awesome!

Wow. That's some serious dedication. Super nice work!
