My Ozzy tribute 5150III's 100 watt blue channel

I've seen a lot of Ozzy covers but I don't see too many people rock out Jake material and do it that well. Not saying I can do it well but I'm glad to see someone do it well!

Thank you man. I take that as a huge compliment. Jake's stuff gives me the biggest fits. And Bark is probably the easiest of all his stuff. His style is just very unorthodox to me. I come from more if a scalular background like Randy and Zakk is basically just super fast pentatonic runs for the most part. I can fake that with hammer on's and pull off's. He just has a very unique and different style that is all his own. I had a good bit of trouble learning some of his stuff. Especially the solo to Journey to the Centre of Eternity. Some killer stuff in that tune. Another cool one is Killer of Giants. Loved that song since I was 14. Getting to play it now with this group is just so awesome. Great solo too. I remember watching the Ultimate Sin live concert video when I was a kid trying to catch how he did those riffs. Ah memories.

Killer of Giants is a great one. So is Journey. I remember hearing Never for the first time and thinking how bad ass that song is. Then I decided to try to learn it, took one look at the fills that he does and my jaw dropped. I thought I was doing well with Bark until I saw Jake demonstrate how he plays the end melody. I had the notes, but not his positioning.

Funny thing is I didn't really get into much Jake stuff until I met the other guitar player in my old band. His older brother was pretty much our guitar tech and he's a huge Jake fan. And he pretty much made Jake mandatory listening for me if I was gonna hang out. He also built up a couple Jake clones that were damn nice. The white one of course (this was well before Charvel did the sig model) and both a blue rear routed and purple rear routed. Same dude got me started on playing Charvels as a whole. Go figure.

Anyway I could talk Jake era Ozzy all day but suffice to say you do a hell of a job man. Keep up the great work and have fun doing it.

Thank you brother. Looking to be up there to play the House of Blues Dallas by the end of the year. Ya, I cheat that riff at the end of Bark myself. It's just too uncomfortable trying to play that stretch live so I do it down in the see th position but the it becomes kind of s string skipping exercise towards the end of it but it's the lesser of two evils for me. Man always wanted that Bue Charvel he played on the " Sin tour.

I hear ya. Stage production has aways been our biggest problem. I bring enough crap with me to shows as it is though. I'm sometimes bringing 6 guitars with me to shows along with at least one halfstack and two of them for when I run stereo. I've seen a few other Ozzy tributes with way better stage production and props than us. But I just want our sound to be the main appeal of the band. We have two stage scrims with our OZZ logo for each side of the stage and two Chauvet Fog Geysers for some cool fog colored fx. That's it. I would like to get maybe a few crosses for the stage. I'm trying to talk our keyboard player into wearing a monk type robe onstage but so far no dice. A midget running around with a big cross would be cool though.

This is probably the way of the future.. as the original bands get old and tired and lose their voices, the rest of us 9-5'rs pick up the slack and keep the bands alive. In fact, wouldn't surprise me before long that original artists replace themselves with approved tribute bands. Watch out Van Halen cover bands, you might get sued if you are not "official merchandise" lol.

Tones sounded great as always and amazing performance. What a crowd! I did notice however that you cheated on Jake's outro solo to bark at the moon. Am I right? I don't blame you, what a stretch that solo is. I don't know how the hell his little hands do that because i find it difficult to do that and a strat doesn't look like half my body like it does Jake. Would you say that out of all the lead players Ozzy has had, Jake as the most unorthodox and difficult runs? I definitely find that. Randy's patterns make sense, Jake does these fucked up stretches at times and crazy vibrato with fast wild alternate picking.

Lmao! I'm gonna be pissed if get a Cease and Desist letter from Sharon. Thanks for the kind words man. You are correct about the ending lick. Can't do that stretch comfortably live. I keep my guitar hung low and it's still pretty painful doing it with the guitar sitting on my lap. I do it down at the seventh position on the E,B and G strings. It almost becomes like a little string skipping exercise when your going from the E to G. Totally agree with you about Jake's style though. By far the hardest stuff for me to do. I had minor fits learning the solo to Journey to the Center of Eternity. He has such an unorthodox style. Really no rhyme or reason to it but it works and it is uniquely all his own. Randy's style is closer to my own so it's more comfortable for me but by no means easy and Zakk's is superfast right hand picking pentatonic riffs for the most post. My right hand is nowhere near that but I can fake my way through it with hammer ons and pulloff's when I need to. Jake's style is crazy though.
