Ive been talking about this thing for ages but have just been too damn busy to get around to putting this thing together. Family and work takes up all of my time and Lyme Disease has made playing pretty difficult. There's an end in sight for that but its going to be a couple of months...

Ive had all of the parts for this thing laying around for YEARS but was never sure what I wanted to do with it. When I did have an idea, I ended up changing it LOL...

For this guitar, my son and I relic'd the body by kicking it around the street for about an hour. Both of us were winding up on it, throwing it like a discus etc until we were tired. I smoothed it out with some sandpaper and that was it..

The bridge is an old chewed up Schaller Floyd and the neck is a really nice 22 fret mighty mite with compound radius and scalloped. Disregard the pickups, its only there for show. thats an old guard thrown on to help me visualize the finished product. Its going to be all single coil dimarzios; Heavy Blues, Area 67, Area 61 , from the bridge to the neck.. I think that this is going to sound great, the body and neck sounded phenomenal..

Its cool to see something basically come from nothing and without any outlay of cash.

Of course , I still have to get around to putting it all together but heres an Idea of how she'll turn out...

I dig it bro  I'd probably order another pickguard so I could use just a volume knob and place it where I like it. One thing I hate about strats is the volume knob placement

Be nice to have a beater guitar that looks, sounds and plays good. Fun times with the little guy doing projects like that as well

Hope all is well!

Thats gonna be sweet. I always wanted a beat to hell strat like this. When you get the other pickups in there its gonna look great!

Hey Tom, Im going to keep the standard strat control layout as I actually have 2 other wired strat pickguards( I forgot where the hell they are!!!) I just going to swap out the singles.. I dont have a problem with the layout at all..

Yeah its technically a beater but at the same time, I plan on using it full time with another partsocaster that I have in the works. Strats by nature are total workhorse instruments that can take an assload of abuse that most other guitars cant( Teles too for that matter). I love my GMW Floyd Paul and superstrats but I really have to baby them due to the finish( and the LP headstock) You dont have that issue with strats..

My son had a blast, he went bonkers on the thing. At one point, he was standing on it and I was dragging him down the sidewalk like he was surfing on it LOL!!! He cant wait to do it to the other Partsocaster. And yeah, he knows not to even think about that with my other guitars..

So you went with the "heavy" relic treatment

Looks great!

Very cool...nothing like rolling your own. Looking forward to seeing this one completed!

Should have let him toss it out the window onto the sidewalk. That would have been epic! ;)

Nice job on the relic, I may have to do this soon myself.

Exactly!! It had been lying around for a bunch of years and was pretty dinged up to begin with. It was my desire to really mess it up and raise the bar on what people considered heavy relicking LOL!!!

I have another strat body thats candy apple red with a traditional trem rout and Im going to do a variation of the same with it. Im going to strip it, then paint in alternating layers of black and purple, like 3 of each, starting and ending with black. Then Im going to go to town on it with my son, Tossing it around, blowtorching it and then maybe a little Tyler Schmear treatment. Then itll get the same setup as the above guitar except a trad trem and YJM singles.. Im hopeing that will look really cool too..

That looks pretty darn cool to me, love the relic'ing LOL. You should really slap on a creme pickguard, and put white/cream bobbin covers on whatever pickup you get. I've seen people soak their white hardware in coffee or coffee grinds for a couple days to get a real aged look too. Looks awesome so far though! :D

Good times! I will take a beat up mutt anyday over a glossy, inlaid, overdone piece of furniture...

Very cool, forums have a bad habit of praising cloth baby diaper wiper collections way too much so it is cool see a guitar taken for what it is, a tool. I have not been using cases lately I have gotten so bad, just wipe the neck down and throw it up against stuff.

Going to be killer when finished!

You hit the nail on the head actually. I was talking with Digi Scott about this last week. I wanna soak the all the white parts but I dont want to go overboard and Im not sure how long to do it for. Ill have to google it and see what I can come up with...

Ive heard of guys doing several differnt things to relic metal, from soaking in salt water to actually burying it the backyard for awhile LOL!!!

Im with yaz but dont get me wrong, I love both. My GMW's with the crazy quilt and abalone inlays are total eyecandy but I see the same thing in a guitar that is more beat up than an old porn star's junk...

That will be an awesome guitar when it is done. Congrats Kage!

Now all you have to do is urinate on it to throw some stank on that bad noy and ya good to go :hys:

Damn Bro, I wish that I had thought about it when we were doing it. We should have found some crusty homeless dude and had him "annoint" it.... some really good ammonia stank would have set the hizzy off yo!!!

Don't get me wrong I love the fancy stuff too it just seems like I can never bond with it. Like wearing a tux vs wearing jeans. It's a level of comfort thing.
