Was supposed to post here back in December but time is a whore and you all know how life can be.
While visiting Los Angeles from London (Also just missing the TSA Shooting while catching my flight to New Mexico) I made time to go see Mark at Tone Merchants. Mark is a gentleman. Was great to meet him and have been a fan of his YouTube work since he had owned the CAA OD100.
I was curious about the BE-100. Now I am a Diezel Hagen user. However, over the last few months I have been wanting to simplify my entire rig back to an old school setup. No racks. Just a Les Paul into a Pedalboard and into a 2 channel amp. I'm not a shredder. Biggest influences being Pearl Jam/Alice in Chains/Soundgarden/Clutch/GnR/Bonamassa/Slash... list goes on...
So the BE-100!! Mark was just noodling around while I was in the room and the sound.... my god the sound... you know the one... the 'Take My Money' sound...
The amps gain was just so smooth. Note clarity and definition in the chords while the leads sounded crisp and clear. I had a quick play with the amp and within minutes I knew that the Diezel's need to go. As great as the Diezel amps are, the BE-100 does a whole lot more with just 2 channels than the Hagen does with 4.
So I'm currently in the middle of getting rid of both my Diezel Hagens. The moment they have gone, I will be ordering 2 BE-100 amps to replace them, a Friedman 4x12 and a custom pedalboard.
All in all was a great store and great experience. Mark and Rob were just fantastic people to talk with. Can't wait to order my entire replacement setup. I can't recommend the Tone Merchants enough. If you are in North Hollywood, pay the store a visit.
Cheers
