Mystery illness struck me down. Anyone have one like this?

Glad you went and got diagnosed.... takes the mystery out of it. Now I can laugh at that aids post.

Yeah I had Influenza A in early 2020, that really sucked. Running a 104 fever and the doctor said there’s nothing you can do but take NSAIDs/Tylenol and drink fluids. It’s just going to suck for 5 days and you’ll be fine.

I asked about the antiviral meds and they told me those are for “at risk” people and I’m too young and healthy to need them and they probably wouldn’t help much anyway. Kinda made me wonder what good they’re doing for the “at risk” people then.

Good news man, it can always be worse. Ride it out, hydrate and get well.

Nope. There hasn't been the atypical 'flu season' for a decade now. Flu season is all year, every year. Most of the people that struggle against the flu haven't had the yearly flu vaccine.
 
Glad you got checked out. Tough it out and try to relax. The flu always sucks, luckily haven’t had it in maybe five years now… gotta find some wood to knock on.

B. i also have similar symptoms to the OP, kidney pain, phlegm, sinusitis, sore throat, sleep sweats.
went to urgent care today for covid test and urine and blood analysis. doc said results show me as "ok" but have had lots of folks in with some "crud". he was most concerned with my kidney pain.

he has given me a z-pak, but said that what i have is likely viral, so he told me that its up to me if i want to take it

The flu variant changes like the wind. It’s a crap shoot every year. Everyone knows that.

I am usually one of those people that NEVER gets sick. I went 20+ years at one point without having even a cold. Then at the end of 2019 I fell Ill and was sick for like a week and a half and now this just a few years later. My system has utterly betrayed me and I am furious. It was the ferocity of the sickness that I found so alarming. Stage 10 flu.

I have never had the flu vaccine. I didn’t ever used to get sick. This is twice in 3 years, I suppose I should get it. If it prevents this I am all for it.

That's actually good news, hopefully you're through the worst of it and now you can get on the mend. Take care of yourself we are all pulling for you!
