What don’t you guys make of this pickup. It’s a Super Distortion, but says DP102 instead of the current DP100 and it reads a little hotter than the DP100 @14.2k. Any info would be appreciated.

Shot in the dark...is it Trem-spaced and possible Dimarzio gave Trem-spaced models a new model number way back then? That would explain the slightly higher DCR.

Saw a recent video (IIRC it was the 3Monkeys dude) comparing old SD vs new and the old sounded way better than new...and really good.

Since the DP102 is now the X2N and that came out in 1979, I assume this pickup predated that

A DP102 is the X2N, which should be around 14k +/-...But the ones I've seen have a blade pole piece instead of typical screws. They did make them in the late 70s, not sure exactly when they came out. I would email DiMarzio and ask if they made them without the blade pole pieces. Super Distortions can get to 14K from my experience....I'd be curious to hear the difference between a vintage SD and X2N...since they have similar output.

So it’s clearly a super distortion, just with an old model number. It also 2 conductor, but plastic, not braided.

a have a ton of old DiMarzio pickups around. I have emailed DiMarzio in the past and gotten good answers.
