The attack/feel on my Germino LV55 felt slower, not as sharp, def took away from the feel. I preferred a ppimv on that amp to running thru the PS. Which sux, because I would've liked to have had an effects loop with that amp.

It didn't sound any better on amps with a mv, than the mv. A cranked 2204 thru the PS turned down, sounded like the 2204 turned down.
Interesting... I can't notice any difference in feel with my 2204 (formerly 4104). However, my comparisons have been made at apartment volumes. I also think my 2204 cranked into the PS sounds much better than just the 2204 turned down, and much closer to my memory of the amp when it was cranked into the same cab without the PS. I wonder why we had different experiences.

Who knows. Probably user error on my part.

Pulled out a Kramer EE with a JBJ in the bridge today, and I am genuinely surprised how gainy and chunky these were bone stock at this point. Doesn´t sound quite like the plexis or Eddie anymore, but such a hard rocking 80s sound when driven by a hotter humbucker.

And on that note I can also mention that the JB works awfully well with a treble bleed. Rolling out a bit of that thick low end for sharper rhythm work and using the volume all the way up for leads is very cool, it has output to spare so just backing off the volume slightly to lean it out doesn´t make it quiet or weak at all. Especially not into compressed amps.

Played this one a lot again the last few days, venturing into boosted territory now. I wasn´t really feeling it with my normal TS10 so I switched it out for a SD1 - and yeah, there it was. Volume 1 backed off a smidge to 6,5 or 7, bass rolled up a bit from zero or 1 where I keep it when nothing is in front. Just the right sound. Gain on the SD1 maybe at 2, and level at noon.

Goes to show why I always have both those basic flavors available, both Tubescreamer and SD1. Similar in some ways, but definitely dissimilar enough that some amps/guitars really dig one or the other way more.

Another month on I can report that this one is great with humbuckers, but a singlecoil in any position straight in is bright in the top end, even thru a warmer greenback sound. In those cases I have to tweak the "mic position" on the Blubox IR a bit, because you really can´t venture far at all with the amp settings before it just doesn´t sound right anymore. So HSS guitars can get a bit unbalanced, at least if it´s a fatter humbucker and vintage singles on 500k pots. An overdrive evens it out considerably, though, with a little pre EQ and extra compression. Or just working the tone knob when you switch pickups.

This is what you´d expect from a mid 70s metal panel, certainly, but this one is no exception.

Yep; that is why on a strat or HSS style superstrat with single coils I usually keep 250k pots, use the tone pots, almost never get the volume pot full on and don't like "treble bleed" stuff; with a classic setup used that way, the high end gets naturally rolled off just right IMHO.
If still too much treble for you, time to move to a bass spec amp :)

Same experience as me. Sweet spot on my 2204 is super loud, right around 1 o'clock or so. I didn't notice much, if any difference, when I used my PS. Pretty much requisite when I play that amp.

I do have a buddy who flipped his PS after a couple weeks though as he felt it did noticeably change his tone/feel. 🤷

Yeah, the treble and cut of this one is awesome and pure rock and roll, but just takes some massaging in certain circumstances when you´ve got singlecoils in the mix. For the real stratty stuff I have a Germino that´s voiced around not having a bright cap from the get-go, it is a lot fuller and has much more leeway with that really spiky high treble. Might be picking up a Bass spec too, though, as per my other recent thread.
