Agreed. Back when not everyone had a decent home recording setup, most people rehearsed long hours with their bands getting things tight and in the pocket. That’s a long time to spend listening to a guitar tone that “doesn’t matter”. Of course it matters.
And back when it was fun.

Do you know about Wizard cabs? Are they much different from Friedman cabs, since they are also built by the BAD?
Wizard cabs are made by KSR.

Quality wise, they are on par with Bogner or Friedman.....so very very good!!

I don't have one, but my friend has one loaded with Redbacks he uses with a MTL mkii. Sounds fantastic!!!

Richie Faulkner also uses a quad of redbacks with his MCII as far as I know. I have the MTL mkii for a week know, I found lead channel inherently dark sounding (of course it also can cut your head off if the bright, treble and presence are dialed in accordingly) so I afraid it would sound too dark, low mid focused with redbacks. With my 2x12 with V30 and Texas Heat, it sounds alright, the Texas Heat is a bit too loose on the bottom end. So not sure which speakers to select for 4x12. Some greenbacks might also sound interesting.

I am also considering a Hiwatt 4x12 with G12k-85 speakers. Find a good deal on that one but not sure if I should save for a Wizard / Bogner / Friedman cab or buy that one and call it a day.

I can’t even imagine what a new Wizard 4x12 cab would cost. Of course, I can’t imagine paying more than $500 for a 4x12

When I want brighter tones I use my G12H-30/V30 cab

Congrats on the MTL mkii dude! That is my next Wizard if I and when I get another!! How are you liking it so far?

I think the MTL sounds killer through the Redback loaded Wizard cab. Some people say Redbacks are "loose and dark"....but IMO they just not stiff and don't hype any upper mids like a V30. One of my favorite Celestions.

I haven't tried my MCII KT150 through his Redback loaded Wizard cab, but that actually would be the Faulkner setup. Can't see it sounding anything but killer!

They are spendy. Last I inquired, they were $2095 US. + Shipping. That was in 2023, so likely more now.

I got my MC25 back in gigging rotation after about 6 months straight of nothing but my 3rd Power CSR40. The 3rd Power is awesome, but that MC25 is just on another level.

I wonder what the OP ended up doing.

Every time I see this thread I think it is @VonBonfire with an upside down avatar.

Thanks a lot! I am enjoying it a lot. It took some for me to dial the rhtyhm channel but now I am getting very nice vintage tones out of it, besides all the glory of the lead channel. I am having goosebumps all the time, due to the sensory overload. I’m not sure if it’s a honeymoon phase, but I tried many gear only a few make me felt that way.

Redbacks may be a good option as you mention, at least a different taste. I think MTL2 and V30 match very well, since they are a dark amp and a bright speaker. I found a wizard cab with G12T-75’s, which I am not a fan of. I am not sure if it’s worth to get it and change the speakers or so.

My main cab I use with my MC25 is a vertical 2x12 w a Gold / Creamback combo
