Picked this up a couple days ago. Got it for about what a 2555x re-issue would sell for, so I think I did OK. The amp is 100% all original.
I don't think the chassis has ever been out of the headshell. It was a local pro's backup for his JCM800, and it's been in a road case for the last 15-20 years with maybe 10 hrs on it in that time. Dude says he hasn't played a note in 3 years, and was just cleaning out his basement junk. There was a ton of interest in this amp when it showed up on the local buy and sell, but I was the first one willing ( or crazy enough ) to drive an hour through a snowstorm to show the dude the money. Glad I made the trip
I was just wondering what you guys thought about the filter cap issue with an amp like this? If I turn the guitar volume off and crank the master vol, there's no 60 cycle hum, and very little noise at all. My first thoughts were that its a 22 year old amp, and should just swap out all the electrolytics, but at the same time, there doesn't seem to be any issues and I'm wondering if I should just leave it alone? The amp does sound really good.
As for how it compares to the rest of the herd, I've never owned an original Jube, but compared to a 2555x re-issue ( which I do have extensive time with ) this amp is not as bright, has more bottom end, and quite a bit more gain.
It actually sounds a lot like my Wizard MCII.
