So, I kind of did this deal on a whim... I was just randomly searching Craigslist locally and came across this amp listed on there. It said the person was interested in partial trades for 6505s so I shot him a message. It turned out to be fellow Rigtalker Wayniac3. We met last night at a mid way point and I absolutely couldn't be happier with this thing. I had never actually got to play one of these in person and other than hearing them used at couple shows I have played in the past year or so and videos I had watched on YouTube, it was kind of blind faith going by reviews I had read and deciding to do the deal. This amp so far has far exceeded my expectations. It reminds me a bit of the 6505, but smoother and a little more open with a lot more clarity and definition. All things that I just was not pleased with but settled for with the 6505. I only really got to play it at lower volumes last night due to the time I got back and crotchety old neighbors who like to complain about "the devil's music", but I am sure once I get a chance to really let this thing rip it will continue to impress.
As a side note, anyone who ever has a chance to do business with Wayniac3, he is an awesome dude and great to deal with. I was trying to make this deal happen last week and ended up with a flat tire and had to back out but he was understanding and didn't get pissed and when I made a counter proposal to change the terms of the trade and make the deal happen he was very accepting. A+ experience with him for sure!
Anyway, here's a couple pics...

Now comes the next step and maybe some fellow EVH 100W owners can help me out... I use to run a Voodoo Lab GCX and Ground Control setup with my Framus Cobra and JVM... I loved the 1 touch functionality of switching my channels and pedals all at once to avoid tap-dancing. I run a very simplistic setup these days, when my lead ch is on, I run my Maxon OD808 and an ISP stomp pedal very very lightly set just to kill any hum from the guitar itself in front of the amp, and then 1 ch of my ISP pro rack goes through the effects loop just set enough to silence the amp. On my clean ch, I use the other channel of the pro rack set lighter again to keep the amp silent, the ISP stomp pedal stays on also to silence the guitar and my Malekko Ekko 616 kicks on for a slight analog delay to fill in the clean signal.
I know the 5150III is not a midi amp and I have contacted Voodoo Lab and their solution was to try and sell me a $40 cable, $140 Control Switcher AND a GCX/GCP setup which while it would work, would run me close to if not over $1000 just to be able to do simple switching.
My pedals all sit in my rack, and that is where I intend for them to stay because I do not like having things on the floor other than to switch amp channels.
My question to all the 5150III 100W guys, is can this be done in a simpler way and a cheaper way with something else, or am I pretty much stuck going the way it was suggested by the Voodoo Guys... I have done a bunch of searching but I admittedly am not up on all the new products as my life has been mainly focused on racing the past number of years and music has become more of a hobby, but now that I am getting out more again I want to get this rig the exact right way for ease of use.
I appreciate any help anyone can provide!
Thanks Guys!
