FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

Easily the most vicious amp I've played. This thing is upset and for all sorts of reasons haha.
R1/Cleans - lovely Fendery shimmer and full lows and mids.
R2 - what are people on about? It's medium gain/Marshally/Bassman-esque grind. What's not to love?
Lead - Ye Gods. Holy Schnirt. Other such adjectivery. This is articulate high gain city.

This ain't your plug and play type amp. Think of it as a mixing desk for guitar.
I read the manual and think of the controls left to right like this:
First 3 knobs - channels 1 - 3 input gain, again like on a mixing desk
Next 6 knobs (2 banks of 3 each) associated bass, mids and treble)
Next 2 knobs - further treble and lead gain
Last 6 knobs - presence and channel masters
Graphic EQ
Final output master (large knob).

What a sick amp!

Congrats!
Yeah the mark 4....killer.
Going to be getting another mark III in the near future.
Great deals to be had!
Happy new amp day.

Yup, between that and the JMP Master Volume there, you've got two of the best amps ever made IMHO.

Where were you when they came out 30 years ago ?

Congrats on a killer amp!

He obviously is no dolt CarvelDan. He has some killer amps there. Maybe he just now got turned onto Mesa? Let him have his New Amp Day fun without your normal banter. I realize you were probably joking but jeeeeeese dude?

Isn't it bright with the presence and treble up that high?

I can feel the power just by looking at the picture of the amp.

I was 8 years old haha.
I've always played Hiwatts and vintage Orange - recently owned a MKIII and now have the 4.
I'll admit I'm late to the party, it's all good mate!

Would you believe I actually prefer the Orange OTR to the Marshall.
I mean the Marshall is KILLER but the Orange just punches harder and has a juicier sound to it.

It's all good! I don't post here much, I'm looking forward to getting to know the characters here better.

Ah, yes, that setting was late at night playing pretty quiet. I had it loud before hand. I moved the settings to get the chime at lower volumes. At band volumes, yes that would be ice pick city.

I'm after a Mesa straight front 4x12 now.

Me too. I have a slanted Mesa Roadking 4x12 right now, but looking for a straight.

Congrats on the Mark IV, they're awesome amps!

That's cool. Curious if the Marshall is a 2204 or 2203. IMHO the 50 watt 2204 is a bit sweeter (juicer?) sounding than its big brother.

JMP's, MESA & Hiwatt, great tastes in amps.

You can get good buys on Mark 4's .

I like the heads better than combos but MESA heads & cabs are 8 ohms & not compatible with my 16 ohm Marshall cabs.

Same with Mark II & III's

Mark 4 thru Blackbacks has gotta sound amazing.

8ohm head is compatible with a 16 ohm cab. ;) I run my Mark 4 through a Marshal 16 ohm 4x12 with v30's and EVM12L's and it kills.
