So, listening to the clips of Mark Cameron that were posted earlier in the thread...that sizzle is most likely coming from the 3rd channel or "Solo" channel. You can do Reb Beach style tapping or shredding with ease on that channel. You can also use it for Old Bitch-style rhythms. I still think the OB is the reigning champion of saturated high-gain but the CCV on channel 3 can get very close.
All around, the CCV is a fantastic rock channel switcher with extreme versatiliy.
rockinchippy":cirtt310 said:Umm, it's NOT just a volume boost bc it has it's own three way toggle which pushes the gain even higher....definitely the case on my CCV...
From the manual...
Solo Master: This is simply another master volume on channel two that is switchable. Use it for an increase in
volume from the regular master. The solo master also has a gain/clipping switch. Like all of the master volumes
on the CCV, the gain/clipping switches that add gain ala “Jose Master”. The center is no clipping and the amp
will be loud and clean. To the left is mid gain/clipping. To the right is max gain/clipping. Keep in mind that as
you add gain/clipping you are also clipping the signal, so the volume will drop (this is normal). A cool simple
trick to do is set the master on mid (left) gain/clipping and the solo master on (right) max gain/clipping and use
a foot switch to toggle between them. This way the amp becomes basically 3 channels.

lol there is no third channel on the CCV... The "solo" master is just a second master volume. No tonal differences as far as I could tell. It's just there so you can get a volume boost for solos and such. Unless it's different on the production version I had?

I wasn't making that statement based on the engineering and guts. I was just saying from a normal "end-user" perspective I wouldn't know the difference.
I understand what a clean volume boost does and I am 100% certain that if you already have the amp dialed-in for maximum gain it will go even further if you set the Solo channel to maximum clipping.
Everyone is up my ass to get a Cherry Bomb![]()

Hope that clears things up. It is not a separate channel, just a switchable master that allows you to adjust solo volume and which clipping circuit you prefer for lead vs. rhythm. The clipping circuits available on the solo master are the same ones on the regular master for that channel.
Not three channels, but can seem like it. Very cool actually - I use a similar scheme in the Cherry Bomb.

I will do a video for my own sanity doing some tapping and shredy stuff that will clearly show how the "Solo" channel is not a louder Channel 2.
Or, maybe I'll just not bother and enjoy my amps![]()

I have a crazy slate of amps coming but as soon as there is a window, I'll hit you up for a Cherry Bomb.
sah5150":79aocd5d said:Yeah, no problem, man - I get what you're saying. Just trying to help out since I owned a CCV and know a bit about the internals. I just want to point out that the regular and solo masters with clipping circuits in the CCV are identical, so if you have both set at the same volume and on maximum clipping, you won't hear any difference switching between them. What's cool is setting the regular master for mid or no clipping and the solo master for max clipping and adjusting the solo volume for a 'boost'. Then you'll here a difference when foot switching between them.
Yeah , you really should get a Cherry Bomb, man!![]()

CCM= Cameron Custom Modern It should be CRS because Mark has no clue what he did. He never drew out the circuit or lost it. The CCM is lost without the stolen one showing up or Chris selling his which he will not for even 20K. Mark only has vague recollections of what he did.
