I like what the Tungsol 12ax7 did in V1. I am assuming this is a modern production Tungsol? When I started rolling V1 preamp tubes in my 69 NOS Marshall build amp the new production Tung Sol sounded almost indistinguishable to my Sylvania 12ax7A's but it didn't have any plate ring when pushed hard. I also used the new Tung Sol's in V1 in a cascade modded amp where a long plate Sylvania would ring like a bell.

I still want to here these new short plate JJE83C's that Redplated was raving about......I was just on Dougs tubes and preamp tubes are north of 30 bucks now.....WOW!

Sounds great man! You're getting it tweaked into shape!
Its a regular Tungsol 12ax7 yes - those usually work well in V1 if you are into tighter and more aggressive sounding tube.

Those first demos sucked bad and I think everyone tried hating the Iconic from the start because of them. The clips acev is posting are really accurate to the tone in the room. If you like what you‘re hearing, you’ll like the amp. It’s got a killer loop and cheap as fuck too, especially used. I got one about a year ago new for $899. Nothing compares at that price
Paul brought his Iconic to a small amp fest in Chicago. We ran all the amps through a pair of 78/79 G12 65 cabs. A few modded Marshalls, Rev C, C+, Driftwood....I'm forgetting a few. The Iconic sounded better than a few of them...probably in the middle of the pack but NONE of those amps are less than 3-4X the Iconic price.
Great amp.

Great amp.
Also, KSR Orion, Wizard MTL, 1966 Marshall Capri, some stock ‘70’s 2203’s and 2204’s, modded ones by Nick, Ground Zero, and no name Chicago guy. The overdrive mode on the 1st channel seemed to be where it was at on it. Felt very good and easy to play too. I first tried one at a local GC last summer and actually preferred it to the mark VII and Revv they had there
