I've actually had the BE-100 for a few weeks now but didn't want to jump the gun on saying anything. I will post pics when I get back home in a couple days.

Anyways I don't even normally post new amp days anymore so that says a lot. I figured I would try a BE100 because of all the hype but might not love it. To be honest I think Moshaholic gave me the gas to try one since he liked his so much and started selling everything else ...lol

I owned a Friedman Naked a while back which I did like but the BE100 is more appealing to me. Its more versatile , has a nicer saturation and compression. It has more bounce to it if that make sense where the Naked could be stiff at times.

I'm not that particular when it comes to cleans but I will say the clean channel on the BE100 is really nice. It can be set very clean which I like and has a good amount of headroom and chime.

The high gain channel is really interesting. It has a fat lowend but is still tight. Its smooth yet has just enough aggression for fast metal riffs and thrash type stuff. So while it does the 80s hair thing great it also can do say Lamb of God / Killswitch style type stuff no problem. Its a fun amp to play because it has the saturation and give available but it doesn't get fluby or undefined. Its very clear and articulate but not dry it has lots of character.

Im mostly a high gain modern rock and metal type player. The 60s and 70s type tones are in there also but I'm not the best judge of that. I think overall the high gain tones do have that 80s kinda vibe to it which I love but it is capable of so much more. Also takes a boost pedal like a champ if you are into that.

The brown eye is bonerific !

Chris I got one a few months ago, right before Mosh had his spiritual awakening.
Sold off everything the BE 100 is my perfect amp. Even Charvel Dan can't ruin this for me.
Every time I turn it brings a big smile and always sounds the same. Kick ass. Live it kills.

Haha awesome brother I was gonna say it probably kills live but I haven't tried it that way yet..."Spiritual Awaking" lol yeah it was like he had an "out of body brown eye tone blast" where is that silly Gilly ?

I totally dig my BE100

Congrats man...!!!

I play mine every day and am so beyond satisfied i can't put it into words. That amp ain't going nowhere ever...

I dial in all tones from hendrix, trower, maiden, scorps, pretty much anything 60's, 70's rock, 80's metal, blues, anything you can think of...

Man does the BE100 love my 1999 Hardtail strat with the duncan classic stack in the neck and the BK Aftermath in the bridge... THE TONE !!! THE TONE !!!

Rolling the volume down yields the most amazing response ever from any tube amp i have owned and adds so much depth to what you can do with this amp.

For me, playing this amp just "gets me lost in the music" like no other, I just start jamming, riffing, playing off the top of my head and I just get lost in the tone...

YMMV, but very few amps have had that effect on me like this one does...

Also my ESP LTD MH-400 with EMG's and a boost yields fat Hatebreed style chug believe it or not... I'm not doing much of that these days but the amp has it in all in spades.

I use a maxon OD-9... All switches OFF on the back and sometimes I throw on the HBE and turn the gain way down on my boost...

Get a Friedman 4x12 cab you will thank me later...

The Friedman 4x12 is the magic piece of the puzzle IMO that really did it for me and this amp. It is the ultimate combo...

Also, Rob called from Tone Merchants and my Small Box 50 shipped out YESTERDAY!!! Whoo Hooo !!!

I just bought a BE-100 last week myself.I had a jmp 79/80 2203 that had all his mods on it,and I thought it it sounded great, but the be100 for whatever reason takes the tone even further..Not a bad tone in her, doesnt matter how you set the knobs,it always sounds great.

Couldn't agree more. I'm very pleased with the BE 100. I waited months to pull the trigger. I wish I would have done it sooner.

I smile a lot when playing my Friedman BE 100 and it leaves me feeling super stoked with the sound I'm getting when I finally put my guitar down.

It's no modern amp, so to hear that "metal" guitar players are fond of the BE-100, well, may be it is the best amp ever.
yes, smiling....
what else do yo have/own/know that does that to ya?

If I could own one amp, it would be the BE-100....everything I've heard from Friedman (mostly on the modded Egnater MTS platform) has sounded great.....the clips of the pure amp itself sound even better than that. \m/

Cool stuff.

Can you compare/contrast it to your Splawn Nitro? From your description - they seem similar.

I have been fortunate enough to have owned most of the big name high gainers out there..Diezel, Bogner, EVH, Fryette etc
The BE-100 does have a classic vibe to it. It also has a fat lowend , nice saturation and the perfect amount of squish without getting flubby. So yeah it might not be everyones first choice for metal, its prob more of a modern rock, 80s metal type amp .However with a boost it does modern metal wonderfully. I use a tubscreamer infront of almost every amp I have owned.

I no longer own the Nitro, however I have had a couple of them and know the tone well. The BE-100 has more gain on tap, it has more compression with the gain up than the Nitro does. The Nitro has a bigger lowend and is a lot dryer sounding and feeling than the Friedman. The Nitro can feel stiff at times where the Friedman is easier to play.
