Sorry for the confusion, I first heard about friedman 4 years ago and new i wanted one. Had to save up cash and wait for an opportunity.

Well I finally got a Friedman after 4 years of saving! I didn't spend to much time with it yet but its cool for sure.

It is much smoother sounding than i thought it would be and has a hefty amount of bottom end, but this could be from the jj e34l tubes that it is running so i may swap those for jj el34.

Congrats on your nad!! You mention the smooth voicing with a lot of bottom end and that's something that concerns me as I don't like much bass in my tone. Can it be dialed out easily? Did you have the fat switch on maybe or bass dialed up? I sold my bogners and went back to my modded Marshall's as the smooth bogners lacked that crisp crunch that I love. Just curious, thanks.

I think the circuit is just smoother overall when compared to a lets say a stock marshall. It has its place i mean its got a good amount of mid range. With all the switches off i keep bass at 4ish, pres/mid/treb at 6-7 gain at 8. It has a lot of nice bottom end no mushy shit. I generally set me amps to be bright. I mean i play my 2204 with bass at 3 and mid pegged! I think there is a little more room to fine tune the tone with tubes which isnt really an issue for me.

It is a blast to play!!!! the hbe is really cool. I hit the Be mode with the ocd (not in the clip) but that sounded very good. I am not crazy about the OCD with every amp it makes the bottom end weird but it worked nicely with Be mode

Which did you decide on giving a whirl?

V1: Tung Sol 12AX7
V2: Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG+
V3: Shuguang 12AX7 (May put another Ruby here)
V4: Tung Sol 12AX7/Svetlana 12AX7

I want to keep V4 interchangeable due to it being the PI. I'm excited to try to the Ruby as it's received rave reviews. Dave said that V1 is HBE and V2 is BE so I'm going to place tubes based on what I want in terms of sounds on those inputs.

Believe me, I'm happy about the tubes and overall sound. I just want to change up positions V2/V3 and while I'm at it, I'm going to experiment.

I thought both clips sounded pretty awesome.. I also hear a bit more lower mids and smoothness to the tone and that worried me a bit when listening to clips but in your two clips it sounds like you've dialed it out no problem. HBE sounded pretty killer I concur. One thing i wonder about is using a SD-1 with the BE channel. You can get that tone with a stocker plus an SD-1 as well so it seems like unless you (or someone) want the HBE channel as well, it might not be the right amp for you because that tone is easy enough to get with a few tweaks to an 800 or a stocker with a pedal.
