I thought both clips sounded pretty awesome.. I also hear a bit more lower mids and smoothness to the tone and that worried me a bit when listening to clips but in your two clips it sounds like you've dialed it out no problem. HBE sounded pretty killer I concur. One thing i wonder about is using a SD-1 with the BE channel. You can get that tone with a stocker plus an SD-1 as well so it seems like unless you (or someone) want the HBE channel as well, it might not be the right amp for you because that tone is easy enough to get with a few tweaks to an 800 or a stocker with a pedal.

I actually have a set of brand new tubes waiting at my door step. They were supposed to be delivered Saturday but the shipment was delayed a bit. I was going to follow up on this thread. I went with EHX el34 because they are generally speaking a brighter el34, and ordered 2 tung sol pre's for v1 and v2. The amp is smooth for sure but it is a killer tone. The E34L take some of the edge off which works well in some circuits in my opinion like my 2204. I am just so used to brighter tones (all of my amps are brighter in overall tone). In my mind having a brighter tone lends itself to having greater clarity. The Be-100 is smooth but is very clear! It has this chewy bottom end which is tight. For me chewy and tight are contradictory terms but that the best way to describe it.

At any rate the sd-1 plays well will this amp and it is different than hitting a stock amp. I just always like a boost in front of an amp it just makes it more fluid to play. I use various overdrives with the amp. I think i like the ocd the best but my OD9 and SD1 are good too. HBE sound great on its own, but it also sounds neat with a boost you just dial the gain back some.

Here is another clip of the amp, please do not mind the guitar wankery and failed tempts at a few riffs. I hit the boost at 1:10:

I like this way more than the original clip. It has a nasty edge to it but it's smooth too.

With BE and C45, I like running the amp like this:
P: 5
B: 7
M:6
T: 6 1/2

Loving the use of Tung Sol in it as well.

I just finished swapping around tubed. I do like the EHX El34 more in this amp. It added a little more kerrang which is more noticeable on the high strings. This is what i was looking for a little more bite. I also rolled pre amp tubes a bit, and for now settled on

v1 - Shuguang AC5
v2 - Tung-sol
v3 - Chinese 12ax7B
v4 - Chinese 12ax7

My settings are
P: 7
B: 3 1/2
M: 8
T: 7

I add or take away bass depending on my mood
