Ok guys I traded for a Friedman JJ 100 and it arrived yesterday.. As most of you know, I am an EVH fan and have the 50 watt, stealth and the el34 stealth which is my favorite.. My initial thoughts on the amp is that is it total kick ass. I love the fact that I can play at low volumes and still pull a great tone. the clean channel is pretty awesome but I prefer the clean on the el34 stealth. the effects loop is spot on. I have heard how badass they are and it totally lives up to the hype. I did confirm that the switch on the back does create a drop in volume when engaged but that's no big deal. it provides a LOT more gain. I do wish that the effects loop could be engaged via a footswitch. I'd say that is the only negative of the amp. The shell and front plate is classy as hell. Cantrell's autograph on the back is protected by a plexiglass cover as well! and this is lazy but the power and standby switch on the front is a major plus over the evh line LOL...
does anyone know if friedman can add a footswitch option to the effects loop?
as far a which high gain channel I like better... the jury is out.... I have not had enough time with it. and I have not rehearsed with my band yet. I will say initially that the friedman is more of a 3d sound. it seems very in your face which I love. I'll post some clips today or tomorrow and possible a/b between the el34 and this for you guys.
