This arrived in the mail today for Mr HolyDiver himself...good guy to deal with.
KSR Artemis II.
I am not a gigging guitarist and I don't have a cab where I'm currently at. So I'm pairing it with a Suhr Reactive Load and using my Axe-Fx2 for Speaker cab IR's. Works amazingly well. Sounds killer, I am deeply in love. I only played it for about an hour after I got everything put together and situated. I decided to snap pics while the desk is all clean, ha. I also decided since I had enough room, to just put my pedalboard up on the desk so I can easily adjust settings and experiment while jamming on it.
Anyway, the Axe-Fx2 works great for cab IR's. I would not recommend buying just for this purpose because obviously it's expensive and would be a waste. But I already had it and didn't want to load Protools everytime I wanted to play the amp and didn't want to buy anything else like a Torpedo CAB. With this setup, I never have to even mess with the computer unless I want edit or try new Cab's.
So my chain is this:
Guitar -> pedals -> Artemis II -> Effects loop -> Pedals -> Artemis II Return -> Speaker out to Suhr RL -> FX Return of Axe-Fx 2 -> Mission Engineering Gemini 2 FRFR speakers.
On the Axe, I only have an effects loop enabled (which allows me to plug the DI output of the Suhr RL into the FX return) and a Cab. I have a few Cab Packs and Cab Lab so I have a few Cab IR mixes of Diezel and Zilla cabs that I put together in Cab lab. Sounds phenomenal. There's also the ability to add effects on the Axe like reverb, delay, pitch, etc..which is a cool bonus.
The Artemis II is simply amazing. I ran through Lead 1, 2 and 3 and tried all the different fat/voice/bright switches. With all the knobs set at 12 o'clock, it just sounds brutal and clear and just amazing. I am completely sold and in love. The Airis Savage Drive sounds PERFECT through the KSR, really awesome pedal to match up with this amp. Will post some more once I've had more time with it.
I made a quick little recording. This is with all settings at noon and the Airis Savage Drive in front (Dirt at 10 o'clock, Volume at 1, Bite at 1, Tight at 9). It is just what came to mind, nothing special, just noodling to a drum beat...

Pics:
You can see Axe Edit loaded up on the left monitor. You can see there are only 2 blocks loaded up; an FX loop and a Cab block.
It's hard to tell from this pic, but the KSR is about a foot away from the wall behind it.
Put my laptop and all external drives and everything on a small table underneath next to my Sub so it's all out of the way. This all looks pretty good surrounding my $50 Ikea table
