Mesa Mark iii 's are all plate driven tone stack design...
I had one. Honestly, just sounded like a 'slightly' boosted Marshall. Which, of course IS a great sound. The magic in those amps were Mark's amazing EVH-like chops; not many guys can pull that style off that well...Al Estrada of course....Rockstah mod 5 still sounds like a great Marshall plexi with sizzle
are you refencing the suhr/golub SE lead mod? That's correct. The Aldrich is typically a plate-fed tone stack with 4 tube stages, but it does have a different sound/feel than a 4-stage Marshall with cathode-driven stack.
This mod is a Langner 5 stage design. Totally different than the 2 Golub lead mods, and 4 Cam Aldrich mods I owned. This mod seems thicker, more saturated with great clarity and the feel is even better than the Cameron's. The Camerons were always the gold standard in feel when it came to modded Marshalls. Not anymore.are you refencing the suhr/golub SE lead mod?

The Mark A modded 2204 I had was very much a 'lightly boosted' 2204 with a small voicing change. Cool amp, but not a fire breather like the Langner modded Marshalls we are talking about here.I wouldn’t call a Rockstah Mod 5 slightly boosted Marshall at least my doesn’t sound slightly boosted that’s for sure
I see what you mean mine is not slightly boosted that’s for sure I can’t use a boost in front of mine it would be to much
