Very cool! hope to hear some more info about this. Gutshots?

Why would you want a gut shot and why would the new owner of a new mod post it?

Sorry I didnt realize the mod was brand new and would be that secretive. I always figured by now no amp mods would really be secret and they would have been documented and photographed anyway. I just like to see amp pics.

So whats the deal with this "modern" mod? I never heard of it before.

I think the reason people are being secretive with mods now a days is because of two words:

Billy Blades

HE is the least of your worries, careful you speak with on this forum. At least he is honest and tells people what he is cloning...................

I am sorry do I know you from somewhere? I think you have me confused with someone else?

Hey Steve, that is one of my old Aldrich Mods I had, but that one doesn't have the clip circuit. The rotary on that amp switches between some caps across the last stage for different midrange voicing.

My other Aldrich I owned (with clip circuit) had about 2-3x more gain than that one. Crazy shit haha!

Right. I got curious and got into it yesterday and verified that it didn't. Just the normal diode bridge and input. While I was there, I changed out the tube sockets that were bad. They were those original Marshall plastic ones with the mounting ring under the bottom. One socket pulled straight through the chassis. It's back together and still sounds as shit hot as it ever did.

And, I am in the Aldrich mod that you made for me today. Finally getting around to changing the gain pot out that I accidentally pulled the stem out of when trying to change the knob out. What do you use for solder....plutonium       Hope I don't have any pieces left over.....getting ready to go back together with it now.

Steve

I knew you would laugh when you desoldered those parts, I was using a solder that is scented with pine haha!!! It's good stuff though :D

If you run into any issues with either amp just let me know, and I'll be glad to help out. There's a few upgrades that could be done to that old Aldrich to make it run more reliably aswell as lower the noise floor.

Not many pine trees out here

I've swapped out a couple of caps on the old Aldrich and got it just where I want it. The noise floor is quite low as along as the gain below 2:00, which is plenty, with the MV around 1:00. Plenty of plate voltage too, so all is good there. I am damn glad I took a couple of pictures of those pots though before starting. Will holler if any problems.

Thanks,
Steve

Sounds killer, I've been having a hankering for another Cameron
