Uh... sorry you didn't like your new amp but seriously what did you expect an YJM sig amp to sound like? You can't possibly have thought it would have anywhere near the amount of gain the JVM has? The JVM has obscene amounts of gain, how could a superlead have that kind of gain? That's like being upset that some noob posted that he can get perfect thrash tones out of his tele and then when you play one and it sounds like a... tele (shocker) and say it sucks and are disappointed? Surely you knew it's basically a superlead with built-in boost/gate/verb/attenuator. That's all they ever advertised it as. Even in that vid posted it's not that much gain, really. I'm sure if you can play some yngwie style stuff it would be close to that vid.

From day one I thought it was going to have more gain than every amplifer ever made on the planet combined into one monster beyond hi gain amp that has sooo much fooking gain that it could not be measured!!!

Except that you actually *have* two JVMs, right? And you still thought this would have more gain because some member on the marshall forum said so? Come on, man. It has a noise gate because yngwie uses one afaik, and a boost into a SL can be noisy.

I bought an amp, from watching videos and reading forums and I thought I might like it... I didn't, so I guess it's open season for dickheads like you talk shit???

Seriously what is your point??? what are you really trying to say here??? Clue me in??? School me with your wisdom o great internet gear god!!!

No you're right, re-read my posts, I'm definitely the one being rude.

I totally get you not liking the amp, but to buy this kind of amp and then be disappointed it doesn't to "modern tones" is definitely weird for this kind of amp, which is why I'm not the only one that is posting that this is kinda :lame: If you just didn't like the tone I'd get it, but expecting an yngwie sig amp to do modern tones doesn't make sense.

By all means call me a dickhead for pointing out the obvious if you want though, no worries :D

(nice edits too, btw ;))

I fail to understand why anyone would think I "expected" it to be a metal amp... I don't I ever recall I "expected" anything... I was excited about having a the classic part of the amp but I was also hoping for a little more modern mojo with the built in boost it's just not there... I guess it's a crime to hope... But hey, when you all ready own the greatest Marsall ever made anything else is going to be a let down... That is my dilemma right now.

Doesn't Mesa have trademark for any amp that has more than 6 knobs on the back? I smell a lawsuit against Marshall for making people think they're buying a Mesa with all those knobs.

And when are you people going to realize that Marshall stopped making amps after the JCM800?

That was untill the JVM came along... and them they stopped making amps again

I got a Hiwatt a while back... much to my shagrin, plugging a tele into it didn't cut the mustard for the Dimmu Borgir cover band I was in at the time.

You don't need an amp or even a guitar to sound like Dimmu Burger. Just hook up a mic to your toilet bowl after you eat some bad taco's and a six pack of Corona's. Same applies to a good Lamb Of God tone.

I'm digging the new Black Country Communion DVD. I'm checking out Bonamassa's rig and it has an 800 and DSL2000's. He doesn't have his usual live rig. Not the best tone in the world, but it's really good.

FWIW, my old DSL sucked.

I pulled out my Martin acoustic and threw it back in the case. Piece of crap, I was playing some Slayer Reign in Blood and I just couldn't cop King or Hannemans tone. Off to Fed Ex it goes.

Just havin' fun man! :D

Did you try a MetalZone into an old radio?

Like getting a Roland Jazz Chorus and crying cause it's not the metal amp you expected.

Lol!

He is a fraud, he just signed up to play games...

Anyway...

The crux if the issue is everyone's problem not mine, becasue it seems some of the "empty heads" around here are more upset with the fact I don't like the amp I just bought than I am???

Anyways I gotta go over to Sam Ash and pick up a used pre CBS deluxe reverb for my Hatebreed trubute band.. after we record I'm loaning it to a Bathory to use on thier north american tour...

what a crazy thread. I'm waiting for my arrival this week on this amp. I'll compare to my old Marshalls but My expectations are exactly what I read and know about the spec( Vintage "classic" tones with Modern features) and looking foward to hear the power soaking feature and playing it through greenbacks.

Hey G., thanks for sharing the experience here. I always appreciate honest opnions. Besides that, the posts here are hilarious. I do wonder, however, how you came to the decision to buy it on the basis of information from a forum. Back in the day I listened to Rising Force and I don't recall a lot of gain or associate this amp with modern tones. The modded Marshalls of Slayer and Anthrax did have that extra...

Yep. If its the DOD Boost ( which i'm told it is built-in the this amp) its a very noisy pedal even at medium volumes so the noisegate is crucial when playing full throttle. I personally think the DOD has more than enough gain on tap especially when using with humbuckers or anything other than Dimarzio Hs-3's/YJM's because they have ridiculously low output. But Yngwie only knows one volume, and thats all the way up so he's getting more juice out of the Power tubes. I heard he runs a 100w and 50w together at the same time on this latest tour.

I watched all the vids that were available before orderd the amp VERY shortly after NAMM, almost instantly.

I was even supprised the dealer already had a SKU in thier system for it and I just wanted to get in line and have my name on one at that point no matter what.

The amp was supposed to have some special factory things like a gate and a power soak and have a built in boost, so I took a chance and orderd it before it was impossible to get.

You never know how it will turn out and again I just wanted to be one of the first in line in case it was a winner for me.

FWIW I have owned a 1974 1959/4 input in the 80's for several years and a 1957 and one or two other plexi type amps... so I know what these amps sound like.

I totaly knew from day one the amp could do stock plexi tones, but also the amp was purported to have some kind of gain/boost/mod circutry and I personally have several tricks up my sleeve to make amps work for me if a few things are already in place (Which I thought/hoped might be with this amp). I use pedals in front of all my amps and do not use the all the gain from an amp these days. Even for very low gain tones I use a combination of the amp gain and the pedal gain mixed together.

Again it is not an amp that was available to try out and there was a limited amount of them and I got cash and nothing to loose... Regardless of what is on video or clips I just need to get an amp in my hands to make a honest descsion.

Anyway as for your statment about Yngwies tone on old albums, just because it's an Yngwie amp does not mean by a long shot it might not have a little extra FURY on tap possibly.

Eddie van halen played a plexi and did not use massive amounts of gain should we emabrace that same logic and assume his signature 5150 amp should not have ever done metal tones???

Anyway It was several months AFTER I had already bought my YJM that I saw threads on the Marshall forum where people were talkign about if supposedly having more gian than a JVM no lie.

The amp came in and It is not my cup of tea for all that I wanted to do with it and it was not all that cheap...

I hope I was able to answer you question.

Why people like Vlad and couple others act like jackasses and say all this lame ass crap and make the situation out to somthing it was not and far more than it ever was is beyond me...

I guess they are jealous or plain old assholes or totaly empty inside and need to do stuff like that to boost thier frail egos...

Personally, I don't care what you do with the amp or whether it's your thing or not, but you gotta admit all this pretty damn funny..
