With a bit of Vox thrown in.
I enjoy em every time I play em.
Juat know I would rarely get to play them at their happy volume spot.
Same reason I flipped the Suhr Hombre.
Lower watt amps want to be loud to do their thing.

The maz amps need a little bit of volume to breathe but nothing ridiculous - it's not like an SLO or something where it's really gotta be opened up

Chris plays loud as shit, just in general, anyways from what he says so I don't think that will be an issue for him

How'd you like the hombre? I've heard it's basically a perfect version of a brownface deluxe but i've not gotten to play one

Loved the Hombre. So much that I got a Down Brownie, with mv, afterwards. Both great, but the magic on the Brown Dlx is with amp cranked, riding guitar volume. Didn't care for the mv, it want to be opened up. Much like a good Marshall 1974.

Honestly, the SLO, and many of the higher wattage mv amps, sound better at lower volumes than a lower watt amp, imo. The SLO can sound good at 1 on the volume dial. Those low watters need to be at least 2.5 before they start to open up, and by then they're probably pushing more wattage than what I normally do with the big amps.
Higher watt nmv amps, on the other hand. Have mercy.

According to the RT commandments, this choice of amplification is going to require a user name change. Smash will henceforth be known as "Gently Tip Over". Now, if he had gone totally Fender clean, fully digital or some other nonsense, the name would've been Cuddles or something cutesy poo like that.
I'd love to be there when you call a guy playing thru this, "Cuddles."

That's what I'm talking about!!!
Sucker is loud. Sounds great with pedals. But I have to run it with a Suhr RL soaking up 3db, and smaller cab to get the volume ok.
Had it dialed in one day, running thru a Mesa vert 2x12 loaded with Scumback/v30 mix. Ran all kinds of fuzz and dirt pedals thru it. Can hear it hear, it you wanna waste 20 minutes of your life:

Listening now while I finish out my bathroom ceiling. Sounding really nice, especially the clean and mild OD tones. The delay tone in there is badass. Thanks for sharing it.

I play a Twin pretty much exclusively. Cranked, my son's OSHA dB meter app on his I-phone clocks them around the 130dB range. The beauty is you can still get a nice clean tone with a loud band as well as letting licks requiring a lot of finesse i.e hammer ons and pull offs, cut through the mix.

I got it up to 108 dbs at halfway on the master. I didnt get to crank it yet, but i imagine it wont get louder from there, it will just saturate. But i am excited to saturate it, and I will have time tomorrow

My plan for the maz is to do what you did. I will crank the master, put the bass on zero and roll back guitar volume for cleans. I will let you know how it works

108 db! That's not kids play man! I can only imagine how well it plays with pedals with some power tube compression. I remember the attack on that amp being fast, with a nice direct/ slightly compressed feel that quickly opens up, not unlike a Wiz or cranked Vox. It was like cardboard at bedroom volumes, but OMG sweet in the zone.
Dunno what tones you're after, but imagine that amp will hit anything clean to edge of breakup, crunch and singing when boosted. Pretty much anything country, blues, and rock n roll.

I wanted an actual clean, and i have heard clips of it's rock sound. I was not able to dial in a great dirty rock sound during the 30 mins i was playing, but the cleans blew me away and i pretty much was fine with enjoying them in that time.

I will have to learn how everything interacts to dial in my sound, but the clean i had was well worth the price admission

You are kind of jumping the gun here because your hat and footwear choices are going to play into your ability to get a good driven blues sound.

It has this chime and surrounds me with the chords. It is beautiful man. The cleans are amazing

I got lost in pink floyd and some other rock stuff I hadnt played in years. I have a lot of exploring to do with this, but I have never played an amp like it. I fucking love it..

This weekend I will get a chance to turn the eq a bit and try it for blues. But the eq is fucking responsive. And i feel like I never knew what dynamic was before now
Alnico speaker apired with a sensitive amp....definitely will have dynamic range and response. Sounds like a lot of fun. Congrats!

I worked with a guy that had a plethora of Dr Z amps. Seems to be a common thing, when you check out the Z forum. They get one, love it, become addicted.
I've liked every one I've played thru. Thankfully, I avoided the addiction.

I used to have and love a Germino Club 40. Bass spec, EL34s, kind of like a Marshall Black Flag? It had some of the best cleans I ever heard, better than my bf Fender Dual Showman. And it ate pedals so well, they sounded like part of the amp. I flipped a Bogner Anniv Shiva after playing Bogner Blue and Red pedals through the Germino. I actually preferred the Germino. There's a comparison clip on my YT page, if I'm not mistaken.
If a 1987 lead spec is a cutting scalpel, the bass spec Club 40 is a sledge hammer, in a band mix. Ballsimus, maxus.
I played a Z Route 66 one day, and I'll be damned if it didn't do the same thing. Amazing tone, especially for the $ compared to the Germino, but like every Z I've played, wanted to be 108db. Lol

Congrats! I'll paste a link for a dude who has great Dr Z demos. Watched a few of his when I was down on health points. Made me want a Maz, Ghia, EMS, and a Remedy haha

I never heard the Dr.Z's sound like the way this guy gets them to sound .... every demo I run across is some yap chickin pickin .... not this guy .... he was wailing some King's X through a Remedy..... now I'm re thinking finally getting a Z

thanks for posting that guy up !!

Remedy is a Marshall with 4x6v6 tubes. Beast.
