No longer in south florida?

Nope...

I'm up in Nashville area now.

After 13 long years and a few hurricanes I bailed to greener pastures...!

Well good luck up there... just a heads up on the Zoom Q2hd, I just picked it up from guitarcenter but noticed they were only 79 dollars at sam ash!! If you call GC they will price match as they did for me... saved me 20 bucks that I used to buy the 2 year maintenance policy. Its plastic with buttons after all!

Dope !

Thanks for the tip...

You know you need a new B+ !!!

I was counting on your usual gear fiending nature.... Thought I was gonna pick up one up with only a few hours on the tubes later this week. ;)

Not this week... maybe next week though!

:hys: :hys: :hys:

Congrats on the amp and cab. I like that color combo a lot! You really can't beat the B+, it's a game changer for sure.

Congrats! Looks great and I bet it sounds great as well.

GREAT amp!!! Love my QR with the B+ option. You have the big brother of my cabs too. Welcome to song heaven!

Scott and team are good people. I bought my Rocktron Loop8 Floor from him.

I have just got done discovering 1st Gear... Wow unbelievable tones in that mode...

I had scorps animal magnetism, love drive, old priest ala stained class, sabbath anything from those era of rock and metal. That channel alone owns your soul. So much you can do with that mode alone. I love second gear too with a boost.

But holy schnikees!!! 1st gear is early 80's British Invasion wonderland....

It is amazing how the amps feeds back so nicely in the lower gain mode with just a little volume.

This my new favorite amp... The tones are to die for.

Matt !!!

You just bound yourself to hold onto this amp for a long time.

Nice! I have two Splawn 4x12's, but I'm dying to try one of their heads!

In the ridicules world of over priced so called boutique marshall clones the B+ Quick Rod is a true breath of fresh air and delivers the goods.

At half the price.

Nice amp. Never played or owned a Splawn but kudos for him keeping the price within reach. A lot of these 4K heads are 2K overpriced, IMO

I would love to see/hear a video of this amp. I've considered selling one of my jubilees to get one.

I have owned 4 QRs and 1 nitro over the years and they all killed . My Question for you is what does the b+ mod do for it .

Glad to hear you like the amp.. I had the original quickrod, before he used his own chassis etc, it was a marshall 1959 reissue head with mercury magnetics transformers.. it was too tight and had a weird midrange frequency that I just could not bond with- it was not very good. I went back to marshall asap. Maybe he changed the amp quite a bit since then? How does it compare to the 210h in terms of tone and feel..?

I like the black and white plexi look. I have a new quickrod as well...if ya want a looser feel, Scott told me to use earlier breakup/ lower rated power tubes. Also, you can use 16-18g speaker wire compresses the tone a little more.

Thanks for some of those tips. I will consider that when I re-tube.

Since you like that black and white plexi look, check this one out:

I had it for sale for awhile but pulled it since it just isn't worth the hassle. It is a workhorse of an amp with great stage features. I've used them for 7 or 8 years now. Far and away my most used with amp during that time, especially from 2010-2012 when I was playing a lot more.

I have been guilty of buying into some of these mega $$$ amps, but I think carlygtr makes a good point. I even liked some of them better than the Splawn but at $1000-$2000 more, it just doesn't add up. Congrats to the OP on a nice purchase. I've always been curious about that B+ option.

Scott told me the same thing. What gage speaker wire does Splawn use in their cabs?

Okay...My post might have been taken that way.  What I meant was the Speaker to Head cable. Speaker cable instead of Speaker wire. Using a 16-18g will give a more compressed feel, where big ass cable makes it more open. Also, another tip is to look at your Power cable. I have one of those Mercury Magnetics Super Duty red power cables. Tightens up the sound and makes the bass come through. When you use a smaller power cable it gives it more compressed tone as well. These two things definately change the FEEL.

Also, been reading that v1 is the clean channel tube, but I don't buy it. Has major effect on all the gears in tone and feel. Currently have an old Mullard in v1 and it smokes. Was using a Jan Philips 12ax7wa which are killer preamp tubes. Smooth and creamy...but i feel the mullard is better suited for the 2012. If you have an older quickrod, try the Jan Philips. Spend the $45 on one and you will see.

Waiting on a Quad of Winged =C= EL34s I got coming in the mail. As I want to try for more mids in my 2012. I like mids. And I am feeling like the Sino EL34-B's are extended lows. People like them and that is fine. They aren't bad...but I seem to have to EQ my quickrod way different, and am trying to see if the powertubes are the issue? Maybe not? But they do rate at 30w i have read, which is essentially like a 6L6. they barely fit in the damn tube holsters..big ass bottle. haha

I like tone chasing, especially with tubes, so always trying new ones...preamp especially.

Back to the original point, if you wanna order them from Scott and want a looser feel, then do like 23-25 on the rating scale. Mine are rated 31's...so probably have that less breakup sound like a 6L6.

Ah speaker cable.

I know what you mean about heavy duty power cords. I've had an Essential Sound Gerald Veasley signature cord now for about 3 years and it really opens up my Splawn and Rhodes amps tremendously.

Look at the splawner video I posted a while back. Killer tone. The b+ has all the same tone just more sag. It feels really nice with teh sag !

This video says it All... I have not had or played a Cameron but I have owned a Friedman BE/HBE and played a few Friedmas at GC Nashville and the SPLAWN B+ is the one for me with out question....

I am very interested in trying the Friedman small box 50 though. That looks to me to be very cool amp from the videos I have watched.
