For about 8 or 9 years, I've had a total boner for the Budda Superdrives. Played one at Guitar Center one day on the clock, a SD80. Had it going through a Marshall 4x10 and damn near blew the cab up, or it felt like it was about to. Such a clean distortion, every note came through, responsive and so much fun to play. Since no one in Chattanooga knows what Budda is, or much less could afford one (the store ran on cheap Ibanez guitars and Line 6 Spider II amps) they had to keep lowering the price. I think at one point it got down to like $1200 before someone from another store had it shipped to them to sell. I've wanted one ever since and kicked myself quite often for not buying it.

Even though since then I've had disposable $$$ to put towards guitar gear, I never thought about buying one, though I thought of them several times when I DIDN'T have money. Well, now that I had money I finally wanted to get one. It came down to either a Splawn 50w Comp at the Nashville Guitar Center, a 3rd Power HD100 they had up there, or this SD45 from an individual just outside of Nashville.

The amp is Pre Peavey and has Gold Lion KT66s in it but has some JJs included as well, and has the Sovtek rectifier tube as well as Sovtek 12ax7s in it. It has the volume mod he said as well as some little pot on the front that he was telling me what it did but I was too busy just making sure all the knobs/switches worked before I forked over $900 in fresh crispy hundreds. All it needs is a back plate from somewhere (who knows where I'm going to find one) but is in mint condition.

I'm way too tired to take it out of the headshell and take gut shots or even THINK about hooking it up tonight, I'll have to do that tomorrow. Anyways, here are a couple pics:

Congrats on getting a bucket list amp. Hope you love it.

Congrats! Always exciting to score an amp you've always wanted...

Played it today....literally made me a better guitarist instantly lol I guess all this time I've liked my gear a good bit (I mean I did spend lots of money on it) but subconsciously I knew it wasn't what I REALLY wanted so I didn't care if I missed a few notes here and there or were a lil sloppy, etc. This amp literally erased all that as soon as I dialed in my EQ settings. Now to just get my chops back to where they used to be!

I LOVE an amp that makes me play better! Glad you "get it". A lot of people don't.
