It's gonna need some TLC but it RIPS!! Gonna need the footswitch & cable and possibly preamp & power amp tubes, previous owner replaced with stock tubes, Rubys in the power & preamp, he also said it probably could use biased again as it's got some play time on it.

Thats the same exact setup i run, 5150II and 94 tremoverb

I'd say you have excellent taste in gear :D

HNAD - stick some winged C's or sovtek 6l6GC's in the poweramp and tung sol's/chinese 9th gen in the preamp, sovtek long plate in the phase inverter. JAN philips 12AU7 on the clean side and it will sound killer.

Congrats...Still one of the BEST hard rock / metal amps going...At ANY price.

Those pics I posted were from the previous owner but thats what it looks like, checked with a flashlight yesterday before practice and it looks like in the preamp he put, looking from right to left on the back, 4 JJ's and 2 Sovtek 12ax7LPS preamp tubes and then stock Ruby 6l6's

He didn't have the footswitch and cable, preamp tubes cover plate or the front and back panels so if anyone on here has those let me know, thanks! Not too concerned about the front panel as it looks like it helps with airflow to the power tubes but definitely the preamp tubes metal cover plate and the back panel to protect the power tubes and the footswitch and cable of course! It's gonna need some TLC, there's scratchy pots and it's making some noises, the guy said it'll probably need to be biased and when I 1st brought it home the other day got a killer hot rodded jcm800 tone from the rhythm channel but not now??

I haven't even tried the Boss SD-1 I originally picked up to boost my mesa tremoverb head thru the 6505+ head yet, I might try it on the crunch function of the rhythm channel but the lead channel definitely, to me anyways, doesn't need a boost for what we play! I just ran it to my marshall 1960a at 4 ohms and my other guitarist who's running a boss gt-6 into the front end of a b52 at-100 thru 2 marshall 1960's said I was blowing him outta the water and I had the volume on the lead channel just a hair above 2!!

Hey guys I already know I'm going to need some good contact cleaner and canned air but what kind of cleaner to you recommend for the headshell, knobs, chassis, etc? The 6505+ head is definitely gonna need some TLC, it's filthy dirty and making all sorts of humming noises when turned on play off standby and other noises too. My one friend said he could get me a quad of the Winged C's for $144, which the Winged C's seem kinda pricy, I'm on a budget, all the tubes in it right now are a couple years old, power section Ruby 6L6GCM-STR's and in the preamp looking from right to left in the back I'm pretty sure 4 JJ 12AX7's and 2 Sovtek 12AX7LPS's

Congrats Man- Mine arrives tomorrow.
Just in time for Friday's gig.

Take the pre tubes out of your Tverb and put them in the Peavey. Sounds like you have a bad pre tube

Is it humming and crackling??

Thanks again for the EH 6L6's!!

Well the back metal mesh power tubes cover, power cord hooks, preamp tubes cover plate & screws just showed up from peavey and the footswitch & cable I got used off Ebay just shipped today. Got the EH 6L6's in and have done more preamp tube swapping and after letting the amp warm up after tube swaps it's still humming really bad and the humming, crackling etc is happening on either channel on the Post volume controls from 0 to about a hair above 2 then it stops but then after a while comes back? I bought an 11 oz. can of CRC QD electronic cleaner, I think the front panel pots need shot with some electronic contact cleaner, do I just pull all the knobs straight off? I was going to spray the input jack and the Effects Loop jacks as well. Or do you have to remove the entire chassis?

I forgot to mention I have a Boss NS-2 noise gate pedal that I tried running thru both the front end of the amp and thru the effects loop but that didn't help at all?

Call peavey and talk with one of their techs. I used to have the guys name and extention, he was VERY helpful with me. He spent at least 45mins on the phone with me going over everything!

Be very specific with him and I bet he can help you. Could be just a bad connection from one of the ribbon cable inside. Did you take the chassis out of the headshell and do a visual inspection??
