Just bought one of these for a stupid deal..($1500) Rockinchippy: thanks for posting something other than 7 string agro (which is cool), but never heard this thing's versatility until your posts.... Hope it feels and has that "organic bounce and chewie zing"..
Damn! You might have won "this months internets!"

To the OP, all 3 of those tones were excellent!

Nice review and tones! Was surprised by the quality of the lower gain tones. Very tasty. Pricing (~2500) seems reasonable for all that you get. Strangely, I couldn't finding a listing of its weight posted anywhere. :D

Hope you don't mind me posting the following 667 video here (seemed like a good place and too funny to resist):

Holy crap am I the only one who rofl'd?

I traded my ENGL Fireball 100 for the Thrasher and ended up loving it in a band mix. And your clips sound great. I feel the Thrasher can get a lot of similar tones. Good stuff :)

It took me a little while, but I got it dialed in.. 1 & 2 cleans (LA clean, and a fat blues/jazz clean)
3-4 Marshall-esque chunky to 80's fat high gain
5-is my main rhythm (Think Sevendust) just crushing
6-main lead.., also like 5 for a slightly cleaner lead tone.

This amp likes to be turned up, and band volume it is a beast. I would like to add a smidge more chewiness to it..a little more organic bounce to the feel... ANy suggestions? Preamp tubes? It's like it's 90% of the way there...LOVE the lay-out and how easy it is to program up..

Those may have been the nicest sounding clips ever!

Great clips Alex!! Signal chain, cab, speakers etc......?

I know clips can be deceiving and all but..I had a real meathead and I love the tones your getting out of this better! Don't hit me Mike!! (runs for cover!!) lol!

jmp1lord: You had a MH and like the 667 better?!?! I just got the 667, didn't vibe with it at all for the first 24 hrs, but then something happened..I plugged my PRS into it (first used a guitar with Tom ANderson pick-ups..sounded weird), ands it sounded killer...and especially turning it up and opening it up at full band volume..friggin killer!! I had it listed for sale, but cancelled the listing as I am keeping it.. I wish it did have just a little more chewy-ness to it...a little more searing, less sterille ..It feels like it's 85-90% of the way there...Maybe swap out some tubes..just to make it a little sweeter?

Hey Rockinchippy, I am getting a muffled /over compressed tone on the lowest voicing setting on ch 1...If I go to the "M" mode, boom! Sounds pristine and bold/clear, but on the "L" setting, crap tone..Does your 667 do this? ANy suggestions on tubes for sweetening up the clean (Making it less sterile?)..more 3D sounding? I have to admit, the more I play it, the more I LOVE this amp. I was going to sell it, but now I plug in and play every chance I get...No way am I selling this thing!.There's something about it that reminds me of my VHT UL, meets marshall, meets Fortin.. I wish it had a little more of that super sonic searing refined tone on Ch6 like on the MH... (It's like 85-90 % of the way there..)

Just like what I'm hearing compared to the real deal..if thats what ya call it? I had the real deal and I just like what I'm hearing here better? But what the fuck do I know?
No knock against anything I just liked what I heard in these clips?

RockinChippy...I sold my 667, but am craving it again..deciding between that and a Bogner TJ... Thoughts?? ANyone?!?!? I used to own an Ubeschall..it was cool..My coincern is being stuck with 2 channels only (no switchable boost)..not an issue if the tone tone is there ...Just haven't played thru an TW.. 667 is pretty awesome, love the setup and configuration..wish it was just a little more 3D or something..help

Wow..considering your ampm collection (past and present) thats a strong statement.. No love for the Bogner.. The 667 offers so much for the money..plus The Randall midi pedal is included..

Hey guys,

I had the good fortune of being able to play the entire line-up of Randall amps at Namm. I really walked away impressed by the 667. The overall feel and and vibe of the amp was awesome!

I got the amp last week and I wanted to show a different side of it.

Here is a quick test clip doing something a bit 80's flavored ( shock! )

I think the 667 has a great master volume and I really think it feels great under the fingers. I would have saved a lot of money if I got this amp sooner in my journey. Let's be honest, if this thing said "friedman" on it people would be losing their shit over it lol. Jus saying!

        True on the Friedman comment...lol.

Rockin Chippy

..Sorry about these "novice" style questions.. I've certainly owned a crap ton of amps..I have an opprotunity to pick up either Randall 667 w/ foot controller, or a n EVH 5150 III 100 modded by Kruse control amplification. (Has the supersonic/stealth/variac mods) both for around the same price, both for very good deals... I have owned and sold both of these in the last 6 mos...The 667 soundwise was "ok", but functionally was awesome...The EVH was "meh" killer clean, need way more gain on ch 2, Ch 3 too compressed and fizzy.., these mods improve on all of the issues we hear time and time again.... Basically the 5150 would be a Stealth with 3 separate res controls, built in variac (new tubes), and a super sonic feature..pretty badass... GOt an opinion either way? short answers are great to obnoxiously long annoying questions...
