Sweet!!!

So it has a loop added and s switchable 2nd Master... what is the switch next to the Gain control?

That switch was my idea. It's changes a resistor value on the board and adds more gain. I was talking to Bill (at Soldano) last year about a mod that would add more gain to an Avenger....he told me about a mod (piggy back resistor) on one of the stock resistors. I tried it with an older Avenger and it worked pretty well. So I had them make it switchable to add more gain to the circuit. It's actually too subtle right now so I need to change the resistor value to bump it up a little more.

...don't get me wrong, the stock Avenger has about the same gain as an SLO. I just wanted a little more for some heavier stuff. :rock:

Congrats man! I have the stock Avenger (HR 50) and I really can't think of something to change on this amp. It has enough gain for metal (I play thrash mostly). So about this gain mod, does it only add gain or also changes a bit of the voicing?

Congrats!!!!

Thanks! You still in heaven with your Atomica W/D rig?? :thumbsup:

Yes, I am!!! The Atomica smokes and W/D is the way to go. I must of played for hours yesterday, which is not the norm!!! :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL: I would love to check out the Soldano stuff again!! Haven't played through one since 1999/2000. I actually demoed the SLO and the XTC 101B and went with the 101B. It was close though!!!

Kick Ass! I really miss my Avenger. The one amp I should have never sold.

It just adds a little more gain...like a tad more grit and compression. If the resistor value isn't right, it starts to NOT sound good. It's been OFF most of the time since I got it....but it's nice to have the option with a quick flip of the switch.

Custom ordered through Lynn Burke at Blues City Music. I love this amp!! Sounds similar to my SLO but has a different and "thicker" flavor with a certain "silky-ness" to it. I'm liking it better than my SLO right now. :rock:

Custom Options:
* Extra Gain switch
* Footswitchable 2nd Master Volume
* 1/2 Power Switch
* Effects Loop
* SLO Grills
So very curious now! If this wasn't a Soldano, I would've thought Blasphemy!

Congrats and clips! :rock: :yes: :thumbsup:

:cheers:

Very nice! Cool mods too. They sound like something my Avenger would benefit from.

Congrats. I would really appreciate if you would make a comparison clip of the SLO and Avenger.

Hey Jim, might be a coulple weeks. I will say that the Avenger has lower mids where the SLO has upper mids. The Avenger feels thicker and is a little darker where the SLO is brighter and kind of hi-fi sounding. I've always liked the Avenger tone because I prefer low mids in my guitar tones.

The Low input is kind of cool for some plexi type tones...just bypasses V2.

Nice!! I dig the factory added dual masters. How much extra were the dual masters and gain boost switch?

clips please.

i have and slo 100 and a avenger 100 with deyoung trannies.

they do sound different for sure.

with the avenger with a slightly thicker meatier sound.

That is bad ass! Just the options I'd want on it, good call man.
