So after about 18 months with the EVH 5150 III 100w i fancied a change to something simpler and Marshall voiced so i did a trade for a Splawn Competition 50 in a lovely chocolate brown hue.
I've only played it briefly but my initial impressions are very good, the difference in feel between this and the EVH is huge, the dynamics when picking are crazy, i can get an almost clean percussive plunk out of it with a light touch and a roaring full chord when hitting it hard all on the same setting and volume.
The multiple gear option is cool, honestly i can see myself sticking to 2nd Gear with the additional overdrive boost to get lead tones, and the built in solo boost is a godsend and removes one pedal from my board instantly.
Using it with a Matamp 2x12 with 65w Creeambacks and it just nails that Marshall tone, it even sounds good at TV volume which i really wasn't expecting. It has KT77s in it at the moment, never used them before but it sounds great.
Will put up some clips this week, but overall great first impression
