Congrats! Welcome to the club. Got mine about a month ago. It's Fan-freaking-tastic. Amazing twist on the modded plexi platform. Plexi in DNA, but so much meaner and better. A deeper darker tighter less muddy plexi. I can't stop playing mine. While you can hear the basis for the JBE in the BE mode, they are different enough that the amp covers a huge range from classic to modern. I started tube rolling NOS Mullards 12AX7's into the amp this week and it took the tone to the next level, thickening it up, focusing the mids, and giving it more growl. Definitely recommend getting some vintage glass in there.

Thanks alot!

Sweet Gibson you have there...!!!

Need to have Dave install the JBE master on it to level out the volumes when switching between BE and JBE.

I had the option of ordering one directly from Dave with the extra master or getting a signed one from The Amp House. After much thought I came to the conclusion that I most likely wouldn't have the need to switch between the two during one song and I could easily switch modes on the head between songs. I got the signed one and so far, I'm finding I was right. I don't like the appearance of the second master so the chance that I might need it wasn't worth it to me. I live in BE mode for cover band stuff and I switch to JBE for my own music. I don't see a need to mix... yet.

I keep hearing about this mod and it sounds really cool, but since I'm not doing the band thing anymore I don't how much I would benefit from it....

Just to clarify. BE amps with the new board I consider better. Much lower noise floor. Anything can lead you to believing one amp is better then the next. Unless you do a blind test with a amp switcher and the amps have the same tubes etc. you can't really say. Most people I have found like the new lower noise one better. Buy no means am I saying the olds ones are not good, they sound the same. Just new ones have a lower noise floor.

Ah fuck, you know. All the versions of these super expensive amps piss me off. :D

It all started when I got a CAA OD100 SE.

Then I had to have the SE+ (and yes, it was better).

Then came the PT-100 which I thought was better than the SE+ but after awhile I wasn't so sure.

Thank god Cameron went haywire, my CCV seems to still be the monster that it always was and since no more seem imminent, I MAY just have the right version of that amp!!!

Of course, then along comes the BE100. I ignored that one for awhile. Then that damn Rappaport dude  starts with the youtube vids. I had become immune to Mark Day...he screwed me on the CAA amps       :D :D :D . After the Rappaport shit, well then, I had to have the damn BE100. I hunted down what I thought was the current version of the BE. Wow, holy jumpin' Jesus Christ what a great amp!! But...no...damn another version comes out with not 5 but 4 preamps tubes and a better "noise floor." :gethim: :gethim: Here we go again!!!

Meanwhile, my 2000 Triple Rec and whatever the fuck year JVM 410 continue to kick ass. Not as much ass kicking as my BE or CCV, but ass kickery nonetheless.

Anyway, what's the point of all this bullshit? I don't know...stop with telling everyone about the damn revisions with these expensive amps!!

And now I want a JJ100!!

Hey Mosh, is this your ad, or do we have a scam here? I just saw your thread and then stumbled across this ad...

Hey thanks for reminding me... I need to delete that!

I threw that up while at work yesterday because I am fighting off big time Kemper demons right now... Like serious Kemper demons!!!!

After getting home and really taking the amp through it's paces I'm loving it alot... Great contrast to my BE in certian ways... So I am just going bite the bullet and keep this head and pony up the $$$ for a Kemper as well I think. (Toaster or Rack??? Anyone???  )

These days I ususally just start a spam thread even if I like an amp and want to keep it... You know, just in case I wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night fiending for somthing else...

Muscians are goofy to say the least when it comes to this crap...

My blind findings going in with out knowing much about the circuit board differencrs to some extent was that my eylet version has a tad warmer "buttery booty" on it...

Like some where in the lower end of the mids possibly was just warmer or fuller and blanced out well with higher frequencies making things real smooth... It was noticiable to my ears right away when A/B ing between the amps on the same settings. Everything is very personal at the end of the day I guess so maybe it was just me or just the specific amps themselves. I definitly perferd one over the other though.

The BE 100 I bought last spring in 2014 is unbelievable and just magical, a perfect build of perfection and I could never part with it. I'm kind of ignorant about alot of deep techie things, so I do not know how the noise floor comes into play with my version... But I'm thinking all the stars were in perfect alignment when she was assembled because almost a year later I never cease to be amazed by that amp everytime I plug into it.

You know, looking at your amp again I realized our Friedman badges are a different color...

Yours is gold and mine is black? I like them both equally though.

Black badges have waaaaayyy better tone imo

Really...???

My money was on the Gold badge having more toanz...??? M

Maybe Dave can chime in on this one???!!!

So for you Giles the BE is the winner? I know another guy that had five BE's because he kept coming back to them. He got a JJ but the BE was better for his tastes. Not sure why though.

They are similar and yet different... but i really like the JJ, it seems to love EMG's as wel as passives and it can be a really brutal sounding amp.

I saw a black badged JJ for sale online (I think it was at Eddies) and I was torn between the two (got mine from the Amp House). I agree, I like them both equally. The gold looks a little more vintage and the black looks a little more modern. Either way this amp is balls to wall kick arse. The JJ is like Gas-X. I think I'm cured. Even more so now after dropping in some NOS Mullards.

No prob man! There was a guy locally that was using forum pics in some CL ads as a scam. Basically, the guy posted up pics of gear belonging to someone else and then robbed people. I've caught people using pics of my gear in ads before, so just wanted to make sure no one snaked your pics.

You have some killer amps man! I would love to pick up a Friedman BE or JJ, but I just can't justify the expense right now after picking up so much gear last year. Now, I need to start pairing down some amps, and maybe then a Friedman will seem a little closer.

Any more comparisons that you can give between the JJ and the BE would be appreciated!

I've had them both .....In my experience the BE100 has a fatter , bouncier low end...Its not as tight as the JJ. The JJ gets more of its thickness from low mids but has a leaner tighter bass. The JJ is darker and more modern sounding. As I've said before to my ears it has some american flavor mixed in the tone. Not your typical Marshall.

The BE100 I had was a great amp but I prefer the JJ.
