I have owned the XTC 101B, 101A, Classic, 20th, Shive 20th regular El34 and 6L6 models. You get the idea,
the tone quest. While I loved what each one had to offer you could never quite get everything out of just one.
The Shiva cleans are great. No doubt about it. The XTC is a fantastic all around amp.
I never own a Uber before but heard great things, figured it was time to try one out.
I bought the Twin Jet without actually playing it before hand. Not to many around these here parts in Texas. I miss living
in Chicago where Maken Music was only a half hour drive.
My first impression before dialing it in was that it sounded thin, with a lot of treble, no bass. Well after about 15 minutes
or so of backward thinking on the EQ I had it dialed in. T
I have this dialed in for a great heavy Marshall tone that turned into a plexi tone with a simple roll off the volume. Channel 2
is set to a think juicy lead tone.
I am playing it through a 4x12 slant Bogner with V30's.
Really glad I bought it. Great amp.

Cool, but how would you rank it among the other Bogners you've played/owned? Is your tone quest finished? At least for a while maybe? Can the TJ get silky leads like the XTC?
Congrats BTW!

I believe this amp can cover a lot of ground. I was able to get a very nice silky lead tone in the 2nd channel. Channel 1 has plenty of gain on tap but isn't as thick. More blue channel with more gain if that makes any sense.
The interaction with this amp is very responsive. Using the volume on the guitar to adjust gain from crisp to thick without loosing any note definition is amazing.
While it doesn't replace the XTC it has it's place. I could see owning both to cover it all.

 Congrats on your new amp. Bogner is a fine company and they have great products. I was on the phone with a guy tonite telling me how awesome His experience with the guys at bogner was when he called needing some replacement parts and technical info.
Charlie at Bogner is DA' MAN! Did you get the white or black headshell?

Nicely done  I picked up a brand new TJ just a couple months ago - I love it. You nailed it on the head when you said "My first impression before dialing it in was that it sounded thin, with a lot of treble, no bass. Well after about 15 minutes or so of backward thinking on the EQ I had it dialed in. T" Backward thinking...how true. "Counter intuitive" is another label for the EQ on the TJ. Give it the time though, and it's a sweet ass amp.

I find, although I really bought it for Channel 2, I spend a LOT of time on Channel 1. And rather than make it plexi or the like, it's the fact it's got that unique Bogner voicing that makes me love it

As for owning both the XTC and the UberTJ, kinda like the Diezel VH4 and the Herbert. I have a VH4S, and that's why I went with the UberTJ. Just fit perfectly in the big, sonic scheme of things.

Great amp!! CONGRATS!! :salute:

I saw a white one on eBay a while back but the price was near the cost of a new one so I just bought new. That
way I get the warranty. I bought a black one from Maken Music in Chicago.

My favorite settings at the moment are:

Depth 4:30 I found this varies, a higher volume setting the lower setting on the depth
Presence 11:00
Volume: Varies

Channel 1 Channel 2
Volume 9:00 9:00
Presence 10:30 12:00
Treble 11:00 12:00
Middle 12:00 2:30
Bass 2:00 12:30
Gain 3:00 1:00

im in the process of looking for a bogner myself and im stuck between the twin jet and the xtc 20th. Basically what ive read so far is the uber is good for metal and hardrock whilst the XTC is a lot more open and better for everything else. Can the XTC get as heavy as the uber? Or are they voiced really differently?

The 20th was my favorite of the XTC's I have owned. As soon as I get some funds together I will have another one.
The cleans on the 20th are fantastic, the blue and red channels are also excellent.
I would say your statement was pretty accurate, "uber is good for metal and hardrock whilst the XTC is a lot more open and better for everything else"
It has a different feel to it as well. That's why one could easily own both and they wouldn't be redundant.

After more time with this amp I can get a pretty decent clean tone.Very usable.
I run an Nova Repeater in the loop with send all the way up. I have it set to add just a touch
of echo for a reverb effect. The Nova Repeater works very well in the loop.
This amp has a lot great tones. More than you would expect.

:D :2thumbsup: Agree!!!!!

For a 2 channel amp, I find the UberTJ loaded with serious terrain... It's not an XTC by any stretch of the imagination - and that statement can go both ways ;)

Peace,
